Chrome to Use Windows Antivirus to Protect from Malware

The web browser is the main gateway for malware to the PC. Either because a threat hides in a specific page, or because it is hidden within a file that we are downloading, it is very easy that, without realizing it, we put our PC in danger. Normally, the PC’s antivirus is always up to date to analyze the new files that we download to the PC, although this implies detecting the threat after it has already been copied to the PC. Therefore, in order to better protect users, Google is working on a new feature that allows Chrome to integrate a little better with the PC’s antivirus.

Chrome to Use Windows Antivirus

Chrome will block downloads for less time

Until now, when we download a file, it usually gets stuck for several seconds. This is because Chrome and the antivirus analyze it at the same time while deciding that it is a safe file, which does not endanger our PC. What happens is that, sometimes, the time it takes for the antivirus to analyze the file is usually quite long because both the antivirus itself and the browser analyze it at the same time.

To prevent the file from endangering our PC, if it is a threat, what both Chrome and antivirus programs do is temporarily block it. However, this technique can give us all kinds of problems when saving bookmarks or working with the ImportantFileWriter function . Ultimately, it all translates into crashes and errors that can ultimately cause Windows to malfunction.

Google is working to solve these problems as soon as possible. To do this, the company is already working on a new function, ReplaceFile, which will eliminate all these errors generated by Chrome, antivirus and the operating system when trying to access and block browser downloads at the same time.

Thanks to this feature, which is coming soon, we will have to wait much less time from the completion of the download until we can open the file on our computer. Of course, for now we do not know when this improvement will be available, so we still have to wait, or at least register in the Canary branch of the browser.

Other improvements that we will see soon in the Google browser

Google, whether due to user complaints or fear of Edge, is working on a series of changes to improve the browsing experience. One of them, partly related to the previous one, is a significant reduction in the use of RAM and CPU that is achieved by making the browser better manage the available resources.

Chrome’s search omnibar is also being improved lately. One of the novelties introduced in this search bar will allow us to carry out certain actions (such as deleting the history or cookies, for example) by writing it directly in this bar. In addition, we will also be able to search directly for open tabs from this search bar , the latter is very useful if we are one of those who work with dozens of tabs, and several windows, and we want to be able to quickly find a specific one to go to it.

These last functions can be activated right now from the advanced configuration of the browser, activating the flag: ” Omnibox Pedal Suggestions “.
