Amazon is an online store where we find all kinds of devices from many brands. But Amazon also has its own gadgets and we all know its Kindle ereader or Echo speakers. But you can also buy an Amazon Fire tablet and in the next paragraphs we compare the Amazon Fire tablet models, what you should take into account when buying them or what are the features and specifications of them.

What to consider
The main thing to keep in mind on an Amazon Fire tablet is which apps we can use and which apps we can’t. The tablets run on the FireOS operating system, not Android. You must be clear that the Google Play Store is not available on Fire tablets, so we cannot access the Google app store to download the software that you usually use on your Android mobile or tablet. In this case, the applications are downloaded from the Amazon Appstore and it is possible that there are some apps that you use every day that are not available here (unless we use an APK…)
As explained from the website itself, we can access applications such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Amazon Music, TWitch, Spotify, Plex, Instagram, DAZN, TikTok, Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, Amazon Photos, Minecraft, Skype, Kindle… But there are other applications that are not available such as RTVE Play, Filmin, Atresplayer, Mitele, El Mundo, Audible.
Another thing that we must take into account is that if you are going to buy a Fire tablet from Amazon you can choose between an option with advertising and an option without advertising with a price difference of up to twenty euros between one and the other. As with the Kindle, Amazon offers ad-supported devices where ads will appear on the lock screen. There will be no ads while you browse or use applications, but the advertising appears when we are not using the device, as a wallpaper. What if you buy it with advertising to save money and then find it very annoying? We can deactivate the ads with a single payment, once we already have the tablet.
Fire Tablet Models and Features
Knowing that Amazon Tablet Fire works with the FireOS operating system and that there are certain models with ads, we explain the specifications, features and differences of each of the brand’s tablets that we can buy in the online store. There are three different models with seven, eight and ten inches and different specifications of memory, battery or storage.
Fire HD 10 tablet
Amazon’s 10-inch tablet has ad-supported or ad-free options. It has a 10.1-inch Full HD screen with 25.6 centimeters in total. It is only available in black and its weight is 465 grams and its dimensions are 247 x 166 x 9.2 millimeters.
Inside, it allows us to choose between two storage models with 32 or 64 GB and expandable up to 1 TB in total if we use a microSD card that we must buy separately. It works with an Octa-Core processor and 3 GB of RAM memory and has a battery with up to twelve hours of autonomy and a full charge in four hours with the included charger that connects to the device through a USB-C port compatible with almost any wire.
It has two built-in microphones, a 3.5-millimeter headphone jack, power buttons, a 5-megapixel HD rear camera, and a 2-megapixel front camera for video calls. It also has accessibility features and Bluetooth 5.0 connection as well as compatibility with 2.4 and 5.0 GHz networks, although it is not compatible with WiFi 6 but it is compatible with previous versions of the connection standard.
The Amazon Fire HD 10 boasts of being a rugged tablet so it can be a good option if there are children at home or if you are going to take it everywhere. According to the online store itself, the Fire HD 10 is 1.7 times more resistant than the 10.2-inch iPad and its screen is made of reinforced aluminum silicate glass, so we will not have a problem.
Although the price may vary, Amazon Fire HD 10 is priced at €149.99 in the 32GB model with advertising and €164.99 without advertising. The 64 GB model is priced at €189.99 with advertising and €204.99 without advertising.
Fire 7 tablet
The smallest is Amazon’s 7-inch Fire tablet. It is the most basic and most affordable of the entire family of brand tablets and has a seven-inch IPS screen with a resolution of 1024 x 600 with 171 dpi and a polarizing filter. A tablet with dimensions of 192 x 114 x 9.6 millimeters and a weight of 286 grams and only available in black.
Inside, the tablet works with two storage options of 16 GB or 32 GB and with a 1.3 GHz Quad-Core processor accompanied by 1 GB of RAM. As for storage, we must bear in mind that what is available to the user would be approximately 9.4 GB in the lower model and 23.6 GB in the higher model. Although both with a microSD card that allows us to have additional space of up to 512 GB. This microSD card is not included but it will allow us to have more photos, more videos or more applications.
The autonomy is about seven hours to read, browse the Internet or watch videos, although the duration will depend on its use. Like the superior model, it is fully charged in 4 hours , although here we do not have a USB-C port, but rather the power adapter is a microUSB that will be included in the tablet box when we buy it. It also has a 3.5-millimeter stereo input and built-in speakers as well as a front and rear camera. The front and rear cameras are 2 megapixels with 720p HD video recording.
The price varies depending on the model and whether or not we choose to have advertising. The 16GB Fire 7 is currently only available ad-free and for €84.99. The model with more storage is priced at 79.99 euros or 94.99 euros with advertising or without advertising, respectively. All of them with prices below 100 euros if you are looking for a compact, manageable and light tablet and if you want something very basic.
Fire HD 8 tablet
The intermediate model of the Amazon Fire is the Fire HD 8 with an eight-inch touch screen and a resolution of 1280 x 800 with 189dpi , compatible with HD video playback. The tablet is only available in black, like the previous ones, and has dimensions of 202 mm x 137 mm x 9.7 mm and weighs 335 grams.
It has two memory options with 32 GB or 64 GB and both are expandable with an SD card to have additional space of up to 1 TB, although the real space available to the user, we must bear in mind, is less: we can use around 24 .8 GB in the most basic model and about 55.6 GB in the superior model. Yes, expandable.
The battery of the tablet is about twelve hours of autonomy to read, navigate, etc. But Amazon warns that the duration will vary depending on usage and other factors. In addition, we must take into account that it is fully charged in five hours with the USB Type C cable included in the box and the 5W power adapter, although in less than three hours if we use a 15W power adapter that is not included with the tablet purchase.
It supports dual-band Wi-Fi but not Wi-Fi 6 and also has built-in Bluetooth connectivity as well as location services over Wi-Fi. The tablet has a 3.5-millimeter stereo input and 2 MP front and rear cameras for video calls.
There are two models , as in the previous case, with or without advertising . With 32 GB we can get it for 99.99 euros in the case of the model with advertising and 114.99 euros without ads. In the case of the 64 GB model, we can also choose to have or not have ads: about 129.99 euros in the model with ads and about 144.99 euros for the model that does not have ads, depending on what we want to choose.
Which to choose?
It will depend on what we want or need that we choose a Fire tablet or another. All of them are priced below 205 euros and their main difference is the size of the screen in addition to its quality, since it may or may not be HD and Full HD. The autonomy of each tablet or the internal storage also varies, which can be 16 GB but also 64 GB and expandable up to 1 TB. Which one to buy? It depends. It depends on the use… If you want a tablet to watch series and movies at home, we would recommend you go for the largest model, ten inches. Or if you are looking for something comfortable to work, read emails…
But if we are looking for something easily portable or looking for a tablet to take anywhere with children, the seven-inch tablet weighs less than 290 grams and fits in any place or bag thanks to its size. Of course, it offers us much less power.
