Bring the ONe UI 2.5 Apps to the Galaxy S20, S10 and Galaxy S9 +

Samsung has completely revamped its range of wearable devices last week by launching the Samsung Galaxy Note 20, along with the Galaxy Tab S7 and Galaxy Z Fold 2 at its second Galaxy Unpacked event this year. All these devices coincide in work with the firm’s own Android 10-based personalization layer, One UI 2.5, which comes with several new features in its applications.

Bring the ONe UI 2.5 Apps to the Galaxy S20

Although Samsung will bring One UI 2.5 to the Galaxy S20 series and other models before launching the stable update of One UI 3.0 based on Android 11, there is already a way to have the applications of the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 at the top of Samsung’s range. released last years thanks to a “mod” developed by the guys at XDA Developers.

Installing ONE UI 2.5 apps on old mobiles

If you want to take an early look at One UI 2.5 on your Galaxy S20 , XDA has managed to port a bunch of stock apps from the Galaxy Note 20 firmware that can be easily installed using a custom recovery environment. Updating custom recovery via TWRP requires an unlocked boot so it would only work on rooted mobiles. Additionally the apps will only work on the international variants powered by Exynos and the Chinese Snapdragon variants of the Galaxy S20 line.

Beyond this peculiarity from which we benefit, the apps have been compiled in such a way that, in theory, it is compatible with any Samsung device that runs One UI 2.0 or 2.1 and not only with the Galaxy S20. According to the developer, the ported apps work on your Galaxy S9 + without any problem, so you shouldn’t have a problem installing them on the 2018 models.

These are the apps present in the update package:

  • Clock
  • Calendar
  • Messenger service
  • My files
  • Weather
  • Smart Manager and digital well-being
  • Keyboard
  • TouchWiz Home
  • Dialer and Contacts
  • My files
  • Gallery
  • Smart capture
  • Always on
  • Samsung Notes

The mod comes as a set of two flashable recovery ZIP files. The former is required to remove the existing version of the target applications, while the latter installs the applications ported to the / system partition. However, by falsifying this modification, you will not receive OTA updates until the original firmware is restored, so it is up to you to decide whether or not it is worthwhile to bring the One UI 2.5 apps to your mobile .

If you decide to do it, remember that you must have a series of knowledge about the broken and flashes of terminals and that from our site we do not take care of any problem that appears during the installation of these apps.

Installation

  • Download this file to remove the apps before doing anything. Then run the recovery of the mobile, flash it and restart the system.
  • Restart again in Recovery mode and install this file with the new Samsung apps.
