Although they are not perceptible to the naked eye, these tiny chips detect very basic things such as when we put it on our ear to talk on the phone , thus turning off the screen so as not to touch anything with it. Calibrate the sensor with apps
When we are making a phone call, the sensor detects the presence at a certain distance so that the screen turns off. If the sensor is not calibrated correctly, it may happen that when we place our terminal on our ear, the screen remains on and, as a consequence, that we accidentally press keys.
The first thing you should do before everything is to clean the upper area of your device, because that is where the sensor is located. Sometimes this is enough to make it work, since its malfunction may be due to the fact that it is unable to detect anything due to dirt or that there is something between our body and the mobile that the phone is detecting incorrectly.
If this has not been helpful you will have to resort to a calibrator . In Google Play there is a long list of them, but to know if it performs its function properly it is recommended that you download Proximity sensor test 2 . If the results are negative, look for an app to factory reset the sensor. We recommend this app that will eliminate the error as long as you do not have a serious hardware problem.
Enter it, press the huge button called “Fix It” and follow the instructions on the screen to reset this component without great effort.
Do it manually
But, beyond the use of third-party apps. it is possible to do the same from our own mobile phone. However, this method is only useful for Android devices, not iPhone. To do this, go to the phone app and enter * # * # 6484 # * # * and press call.
After that you will access a hidden menu where you can calibrate the various sensors of the terminal . Among the different possibilities, search for Proximity sensor and access it. After that you will see a number five that should decrease to zero when we cover the sensor. If you do, everything is fine.
If it does not work as it should, follow the steps that your mobile will indicate to see if it is solved. Here you will check if the failure is due to the sensor is a hardware problem. If it’s the latter, the easiest solution is to have it fixed by professionals or run the warranty as long as the phone is within the repair timeframe.
