Adult animation is much more fashionable than you think. There are more and more proposals that belong to this genre on the rise, with tremendously intelligent titles and above all, very fun. The best animation series for adults
If you were looking for entertainment and want to give adult animation series a shot at last, you probably don’t know where to start. Some title will ring a bell, as is the case with The Simpsons – who has never seen an episode – or Rick and Morty , but many others may not have them on file. It is time for you to broaden your horizons. Ahead.
Rick and Morty
We start with a classic and one of the titles with the most followers. Created by Dan Harmon and Justin Rooland in 2013 for the Adult Swim network, it introduces us to a rather quirky (not to say crazy and drink-addicted) scientist named Rick Sanchez and his baptized teenage grandson Morty (Smith). Both will be dedicated to traveling through space and getting involved in situations that are more absurd and crazy. It currently has 4 seasons.
Animals
With a fairly representative and special aesthetic, animals is the work created by Phil Matarese and Mike Luciano. In it we will see ourselves portrayed through the humanized behavior of different animals that present us with everyday situations in many cases. A different proposal that premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2015 and has three seasons.
South Park
Another of the animation series par excellence when it comes to talking about this format is South Park . Possibly it is one of the most hooliganic and iconic series on the small screen, with a group of boys (Stan, Kyle, Cartman and Kenny) with a rather dark humor. It was created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone in 1997 and has no less than 23 seasons.
The Simpson
There are people who will not even consider it an adult animation series but that is the DNA of the cartoon series par excellence on TV. The American series, created by Matt Groening for Fox Broadcasting Company, has been broadcast in many countries around the world. In it we meet the Simpsons, a somewhat special family made up of a fairly simple but kind father, a very dedicated mother, a very naughty son, a very intelligent girl and an adorable baby who never grows up living in the fictional city of Springfield .
F is for family
Families work when portraying them as an animated series and F is for family is a clear example of this. This series, created by Bill Burr and Michael Price, can be enjoyed on Netflix and thus meet the Murphies, in a faithful portrait of the society of the 70s. Just a month ago, its fourth season launched five years after its premiere. .
Mr. Pickles
Do you like very crude and politically (very) incorrect series of drawings? Then you have to keep an eye on Mr. Pickles. Created by Will Carsola and Dave Stewart for Adult Swim, the TV show revolves around the Goodman family, with a special focus on their 6-year-old son, Tommy, in the family’s border collie, the demon Mr. Pickles.
Family Guy
Often compared to The Simpsons “but even more brazen”, Family Guy is another great classic. This series was the idea of
Seth MacFarlane, who released it in 1999. The protagonists are the Griffin, a dysfunctional family living in the fictional town of Quahog, Rhode Island. It currently has 18 seasons.
BoJack Horseman
What if we follow the comings and goings of an anthropomorphic horse that triumphed in the 90s with a TV series and is now unable to redirect his professional (and personal) life? That is exactly what you will find in this proposal by Raphael Bob-Waksberg especially for the Netflix content platform. Finished this 2020, it has six seasons.
Metalocalypse
This TV series has just hit the HBO catalog, so it’s a good time to check it out if you’re subscribed. Broadcast by Adult Swim and created by Brendon Small and Tommy Blacha, it follows the adventures of a tremendously famous death metal band. He currently has 4 seasons with no less than 62 chapters.
Archer
Classic-style American animated television series created by Adam Reed for FX. Archer follows the exploits of a dysfunctional undercover agent named Sterling Archer and seven of his colleagues, who are part of the New York ISIS spy agency. It has no less than 10 seasons.
