However, Apple wanted to honor the slogan of the presentation event and power its new tablet with an M1 chip identical to that of the 2021 iPad Pro.
This new processor, already well known, offers a 60% improvement in performance compared to the previous generation. In addition, it is accompanied by another chip with 5G connectivity, although in this case it will only be available for the WiFi + Cellular versions, leaving only the input iPad as the only one without this technology.
For the rest, there are not too many differences in relation to the 4th generation iPad Air. It continues to mount a 10.9-inch Liquid Retina panel that, although Apple calls it that, is still an IPS panel. Panel that in any case looks very good, but that is seen in inferiority here with the ‘Pro’, so not even the M1 can match them exactly.
It should be noted that the colors are still protagonists, although with slight changes. We went from silver to a star white and from an almost white blue to a light blue. To these is added the option in purple and the ever-present space gray along with a pink that is seen in a very similar way to the iPhone 13.
On the back it mounts a 12 Megapixel camera again, although the great novelty has come on the front with an ultra wide-angle lens that is very similar to that of the ‘Pro’ and even the entry-level iPad, which has the centered frame. This function allows, in a video call, you can always stay in the center even if you move and that several people can fit in it.
Support for Apple Pencil 2 remains as usual, as does the official Smart Keyboard and Magic Keyboard with trackpad.
What is also maintained is the price , starting at 649 euros in its 64 GB versions and with a capacity of up to 256 GB. If you are interested in buying one, you can reserve it from this Friday. Of course, its market launch as such will not take place until March 18 , that is, on Friday of next week.
And, as expected, the previous iPad Air is officially discontinued . Although, yes, it is very likely that there will still be some units in other stores that have availability and can be purchased at a lower price.
