Amazon Prime Video has become one of the best video on demand platforms with some of the best series available today. But beyond great successes such as This is Us or Fleabag, it has children’s content and some of the popular series among the little ones. To protect them you can configure the parental control of Amazon Prime Video and prevent them from accessing content not suitable for children or for the exact age of your son or daughter.
Although it is recommended that children use streaming services in the company of an adult, it is possible to activate parental control of Amazon Prime Video so that when accessing certain series and movies that content appears as blocked and requires a specific password That only we know. So nobody can enter without our permission and they will only watch series and movies that are suitable according to their age or according to what you want them to see.
Amazon Prime Video has a specific section of children’s content where we will find cartoon series, movies for the whole family, etc. But not all of them are for the whole family. There will be series for people over thirteen who pose a problem for children aged six or seven. Or we will find movies for children under 16 who can scare very young children. Therefore, you can control age with parental control.
How to set it up
Go to your Amazon Prime Video account and log in with your username and password. You will have to access from your computer’s browser and with your personal data. Once inside, click on the upper right corner of the screen on the doll icon and there you can go to “Account and settings” to start.
- Open Amazon Prime Video in your browser
- Go to Account and settings
- Choose the option “Parental Control” in the top menu
- Choose the five-digit PIN you want
- Click on “Save”
- Refresh the page
Once you have updated the page and registered the access password to the parental control of Amazon Prime Video, you can configure the restrictions to it.
Age control
Parental control on this platform is quite complete and will allow us to choose age. You can select the age you want to make the restrictions.
- Children: All content
- Older children: More than seven years
- Adolescents: More than thirteen years old
- Young adults: More than sixteen years
- Adults: More than 18 years
Use the slider you’ll see on the screen to select the content you want to block. If you want your children to only watch content for children under thirteen, mark the option of “Teens” and all content with higher ranking will disappear from the streaming platform when they search for new series.
Device control
It is interesting that the parental control of Amazon Prime Video allows us to choose on which devices we apply the restrictions and on which others we do not. For example, you may not apply restrictions on your smartphone if you use your mobile phone exclusively and want to save yourself having to put the PIN code on each series you are going to watch.
From «Parental Control» you will see all the devices on which Amazon Prime Video is logged in and you can mark or unmark each of them according to whether you want it to be applied or not.
In the case of Xbox One or Fire devices, restrictions must be made manually from the device in question as they work independently.
Remove parental control
There is no concrete option to remove parental control from Amazon Prime Video once you enter a password but there are two simple solutions to do so:
- Dial 18+ on the slider and all series and movies will appear.
- Uncheck all devices that appear in the “Apply restrictions” option.
