Amazon Music: New Free Streaming Music Platform

Amazon typically offers free trials of almost all of its services, including Amazon Prime, Prime Video, Music Unlimited, Kindle Unlimited, etc. Its annual subscription includes all these services, but now the company has launched the new Amazon Music service for free so that any Amazon customer can listen to free music by streaming through playlists and stations.

This new service is free for all users, whether or not they have Amazon Prime , or even if they have already enjoyed Prime’s free trial period. The only thing we need is to have an Amazon account to log in, and once we are inside, we can listen to all the songs.

It is available on smartphones, PCs and smart speakers

These songs can be heard on any player, including the Amazon Echo or the Amazon Music app on Android, iOS and Fire TV, in addition to the web version at music.amazon.es.

The service has launched today in Spain, France and Italy, and we can find thousands of stations with all kinds of music genres, as well as global and local playlists with the most played songs. In this way, Amazon competes directly against the free version of Spotify, which allows free access to all the songs you want and does not limit you. Amazon Music has ads similar to those of Spotify, although ads for other Amazon products prevail , and they tend to include several.

Announcements and we cannot make temporary jumps in songs

Within the limits of Amazon Music we find that we cannot make temporary jumps within the song, although we can change the song to the next one that is available in the playlist or to the one we want from any list limited to a few dozen changes per day. Amazon Music is also compatible with Alexa, where we can say “Alexa, put Rosalía”, or “Alexa, put pop”. Unfortunately, if we search for a specific song, it won’t let us play it beyond popular playlists or titles.

This is a clear attempt by Amazon to try to take away a share from Spotify, which is the currently dominant platform, as well as YouTube or Play Music, which are also another of the most popular methods of accessing songs. Also, this free service can help more users decide to subscribe to the Unlimited version.

Amazon continues to expand its service offering, where it is also working on the creation of Project Tempo , its new streaming video game platform that seeks to compete with Stadia. This platform would arrive next month, and will have direct integration with Twitch. In fact, they are developing a game called Crucicle focused on competitive online that can be broadcast natively through Twitch. They are also developing New World, a massive online multiplayer game.
