Typical situation: you are with family or friends and you want to take a group photo and yet you don’t want anyone to have to be left out of the snapshot because they are the one taking the photo. Fortunately, there are timers in all smartphones that allow you to place the phone in a certain place and activate a countdown that allows everyone to position themselves to look good in the photo. In this article we tell you how to activate the photo timer on an iPhone, as well as some related tricks.
Countdown for photos on iOS
By default in the iOS camera app, the snapshot is taken as soon as you press the capture button. However, there is the possibility of activating a countdown so that, from the moment this button is pressed, a few seconds pass until the photograph is taken. You just have to follow these simple steps:
- Open the camera app.
- Go to Photo or Portrait (it depends on what type of image you want to capture).
- Swipe the bottom to open options.
- Press the timer icon (the one indicated in the image).
- Choose whether you want to set a 3 or 10 second countdown.
Ready. Once you do this you will have already activated the timer for your photos. Remember to deactivate it again when you no longer need it, following the same steps shown above. In this way you can already use a tripod or any other support in which to leave the iPhone while you position yourself for the photo.
Use the Apple Watch to better take the photo
A simple function or trick that not everyone knows is to use the Apple Watch as a viewer of what the iPhone camera shows. This is extremely useful when you want to take a photo with the rear camera of the iPhone and therefore the screen is facing away from you, so that you cannot see well if you are focusing. If you try to open the Camera app from the Watch, you will see on your screen what the iPhone screen shows. Obviously in such a small device you cannot see very clearly, but for specific moments it can be useful. You will even have the possibility to capture the photo from the watch itself.
Devices that serve as a remote control
If you have ever bought a specialized smartphone selfie stick or tripod, it may have come with a Bluetooth remote. Well, this remote can be used to take a picture without even having to press the iPhone screen. Whether with the timer activated or not, this tool can be tremendously useful, especially if you combine it with the Apple Watch trick shown above. Of course, you will have to previously link this accessory from Settings> Bluetooth.
