Xiaomi has a complete range of network devices, which starts with cheap WiFi repeaters and routers for less than 10 euros, and goes up to WiFi 6 routers with the latest technology for over 100 euros. Now, it has launched a new cheap repeater that finally adds Ethernet connectivity .
Xiaomi routers, like those of other companies, can be used as repeaters if we configure them as such. Thus, the Mi AIoT AX3600 router or the Redmi AX6, for just 50 euros, are ideal options to amplify our WiFi network; especially with its Gigabit Ethernet ports, also acting as a switch if we need more ports.
AC1200 WiFi Range Extender: Cheap WiFi and Ethernet
However, if you don’t want to get complicated and all you want is a simple repeater, Xiaomi’s has an unbeatable price for its performance. The new Xiaomi Mi WiFi Range Extender AC1200 not only improves its WiFi speed to reach up to 1,200 Mbps , but also adds an Ethernet port. In the 5 GHz band it reaches 867 Mbps , and in the 2.4 GHz band it reaches 300 Mbps .
The problem with the Ethernet port used by this device is that it is 10 / 100M , so we can only reach speeds of 100 Mbps if we connect it by cable to the router. At least, thanks to this option, we can finally have a more stable WiFi connection if we need connectivity at a point far from our router.
The connectivity is WiFi 5 as its model name indicates, so we have 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz connectivity , although without compatibility with WiFi 6. However, with the 100M port we will not need much beyond that. Despite these limitations, this is the repeater with the highest power and speed that Xiaomi has launched on the market, so it is a good way to launch a repeater with Gigabit Ethernet one day.
The repeater has 64 MB of RAM, and a transmit power of <20 dBm for 2.4 GHz and <23 dBm for 5 GHz . Its dimensions are 84 x 100 x 82 mm. At the moment we do not know what its price will be, since the device only appears on the global web, but it should not be above 20 euros.
New more compact 65W GaN charger
In addition to the repeater, Xiaomi has put a new 65 W GaN charger on sale in China, which has dual USB C and USB A connectivity to be able to charge two devices at the same time without sacrificing speed. These types of chargers are ideal for traveling, as they have also reduced their size by 23% compared to the previous model. The USB C port offers the full 65 W, while the USB A remains at 18 W. If we use both connectors at the same time, the maximum in USB C is 45 W, and the USB remains the same at 18 W.
Thanks to its power, it can even charge laptops. A Xiaomi Mi 11 charges it whole in 45 minutes. Its price is 149 yuan, about 20 euros to change. It will be on sale starting Thursday, June 10.
