Download Driver Easy from its official website, run a scan and choose the driver you want to update. The current app can scan for free. Installing updates through it requires an active seven-day trial or a paid license. If you want to update a driver without a subscription, start with Windows Update or the device maker.

How to download and use Driver Easy
- Open the official Driver Easy download page, download the installer and run it.
- Open Driver Easy and select Scan Now. It compares the drivers Windows is using with the updates it finds for your hardware.
- Find the device you’re troubleshooting. Choose Update or Activate & Update beside that device. The latter opens the trial or license setup. Read the price and renewal terms before starting a trial.
- Restart if the installer asks, then test the device. If you’re fixing one issue, such as missing Wi-Fi, update that driver first so you can tell whether the change helped.
Driver Easy also has an Update All button. Updating one device at a time makes troubleshooting easier. On a laptop, check the manufacturer’s support page for model-specific audio, touchpad and graphics packages before replacing those drivers.
What’s free in the current Driver Easy?
| Situation | Where to start | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| You want to see which devices it flags | Driver Easy scan | Run the scan and review the results without activating driver installation. |
| You want Driver Easy to install the update | Seven-day trial or paid license | Confirm the trial’s renewal terms and update the device you’re working on. |
| You want the driver without a trial | Windows Update or the device maker | Check optional driver updates or download the package for your exact model. |
| The PC has no internet connection | Another connected device | Download the correct network driver from the PC or adapter maker and transfer it by USB. |
The permanent free edition described in older tutorials applied to version 5.8.x and earlier. The vendor ended it with version 6.0. If you start a trial and want it to end before a charge, use the vendor’s steps for stopping trial renewal.
Driver Easy 7.3.0 runs natively on Windows ARM64, but the vendor says its driver update and restore features are still being tested on ARM64. For those PCs, start with Windows Update or your device maker’s ARM64 package. See the version 7.3.0 release notes.
How to update or roll back a driver in Windows
In Windows 11, open Settings > Windows Update > Advanced options > Optional updates and look under Driver updates if that section appears. In Windows 10, open Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and look for View optional updates. Install the update that matches the device you’re fixing. See our guide to getting drivers through Windows Update.
If a new driver causes a problem, right-click Start, open Device Manager, and double-click the affected device. Open the Driver tab and choose Roll Back Driver if available. Restart and test again. If Windows has no previous driver to roll back to, get a compatible earlier package from the device maker. See Microsoft’s Device Manager instructions.
Frequently asked questions
Is Driver Easy free?
The current app can scan for free. To install updates through Driver Easy, activate its seven-day trial or use a paid license. Windows Update and most manufacturer driver downloads are free.
Can Driver Easy fix a PC with no Wi-Fi?
Its Offline Scan feature uses another connected PC to fetch the driver. The simpler route is often to download the network driver for your exact PC or Wi-Fi adapter on a working device, then copy it over by USB. See the vendor’s Offline Scan steps.
Should I update every driver Driver Easy finds?
Start with the device that has a problem, or install an update the maker recommends. Test each change before updating another driver.
Where can I download Driver Easy safely?
Use the vendor’s download page. Avoid repackaged installers and unofficial license keys.
Can I undo a driver update?
Open the device’s Properties in Device Manager, go to the Driver tab and choose Roll Back Driver if Windows still has the earlier version.
