Updated on November 6, 2026.

If your Galaxy says No SIM after updating to One UI 9, open Settings > Connections > SIM manager and look for your line. If it’s missing, restart the phone and follow the steps for your SIM type below. If the line is listed and enabled, check whether the phone can connect to your carrier.
A Galaxy S24 Ultra owner reported that the physical SIM kept disappearing after the update. Another user saw carrier names but found SIM Manager grayed out. November 5 coverage cited similar SIM detection reports on other Galaxy models. See the S24 Ultra report, the SIM Manager discussion and Android Authority’s coverage.
Check whether the phone sees your SIM
| What you see | What to check |
|---|---|
| “No SIM” or your line is missing from SIM Manager | Start with the physical SIM or eSIM checks below. |
| Your line is listed and enabled, but you see “No service” | Check that Airplane mode is off. Try a spot with better reception and ask your carrier about an outage or activation problem. |
| Calls work, but apps have no internet over mobile data | Check that mobile data is on and assigned to the right SIM if you use two lines. |
For help identifying what appears next to the signal bars, see our guide to Samsung Galaxy status icons. If your line works for calls and the problem is limited to mobile internet, follow our Samsung mobile data troubleshooting guide.
If you use a physical SIM card
- Restart the phone. Swipe down to open the Quick panel, tap the power icon and choose Restart. Check SIM Manager again after the phone starts.
- Turn the phone off and reseat the card. Use the eject hole on the SIM tray, then check the card and tray for visible damage or debris. Wipe them gently with a clean, dry cloth if needed. Seat the card flat in its tray, reinsert the tray and turn the phone back on.
- Test the card in another compatible phone if you can. You can also try a known working, compatible SIM in your Galaxy. Check whether each phone lists the card before testing calls or data.
If your SIM is missing on both phones, ask your carrier to check or replace it. If the original SIM works elsewhere and your Galaxy also fails to detect a working SIM, contact Samsung with both test results. See Samsung’s physical SIM troubleshooting steps.
If you use an eSIM
Connect to Wi-Fi and check Settings > Connections > SIM manager. If your eSIM is listed but switched off, turn on that line. If it’s enabled and still shows No service, ask your carrier to check whether the line is active and provisioned for your phone.
If your eSIM has disappeared or the switch is unavailable, contact your carrier about restoring the line. Keep any installed profile in place until the carrier tells you how to reactivate it. Setting it up again can require a carrier-issued code. See Samsung’s Galaxy eSIM setup guide.
Report a SIM that keeps disappearing
Open Samsung Members > Support and look for View tests or Phone diagnostics. Run the SIM card test if it’s available, then use Error reports in Samsung Members to report the problem. See Samsung’s diagnostics and error reporting guide.
Include your Galaxy model, carrier, SIM type, when the issue began and what your tests showed. You can find the One UI version and build number under Settings > About phone > Software information. If the SIM comes back after a restart and disappears later, include how long it stays connected.
Frequently asked questions
What if SIM Manager is grayed out?
After a restart, check Settings > About phone > Status information > SIM card status if your phone shows that menu. Record what the phone lists for the network and mention that SIM Manager is unavailable when you contact Samsung.
What if only one physical SIM slot has the problem?
If your Galaxy has two physical SIM slots, turn off the phone and try the same compatible card in the other slot. If one slot consistently reads the card and the other doesn’t, include the slot numbers in your Samsung report.
What does Reset mobile network settings change?
It clears the saved mobile network configuration so the phone can reconnect with the default carrier settings. If you’re considering it, check the reset screen for what will change on your model. Samsung explains the option in its SIM troubleshooting guide linked above.
Can I check for a software update without mobile service?
Yes. Connect to Wi-Fi, then go to Settings > Software update > Download and install to check what’s available for your phone.
