Even with the drop in prices, it is possible that not all pockets can afford the purchase of a new smartphone and that is why most of us do everything possible to make our phones work like new for a long time.
Sadly, as much as you do your best to make an old phone last another year, sooner or later your device will come to an end. The problem is knowing when, exactly, you need to replace your old smartphone with a new one.
There is no infallible way to predict when your mobile will stop working forever so that the fateful day does not come by surprise, but we can collect a series of symptoms that warn us that the smartphone is about to die.

The screen shows abnormalities.
If your screen is malfunctioning, it may be time to replace your smartphone. The display, as long as it does not suffer from software problems, cannot be easily fixed and is one of the most expensive components to fix.
If the mobile starts to show vertical lines or bands on the screen, or other anomalies like flickering, that’s a great warning sign. Another sign related to the screen is that its touch system becomes extremely clunky. If the smartphone ignores your touches and slides, or responds very slowly, the device will be almost impossible to do something, a sign that it is in decline.
The power button stops working
Most modern phones have few buttons, but the few that do, like the power button, are essential. A power button that stops working isn’t necessarily a sign that the phone is about to stop working, but if you can’t turn the phone on or off, it won’t exactly be easy to use.
Device shuts down and restarts repeatedly
If your phone turns off by itself, nothing happens, but when it does after restoring the system and in less and less time, bad business. That the mobile turns off or relapses usually happens from time to time but if it is repeated every day it can indicate a problem with the battery or, worse still, with the motherboard or processor.
You should take the mobile to fix with two possible solutions: repair it by paying more than a hundred euros or, directly, and buy a new phone.
The phone overheats, even when you’re not using it
Overheating can indicate a variety of problems with the phone, but these are usually fixed when it is detected when and how it happens. But if the device overheats when you are not using it, you have a big problem. We all know that phones can explode after overheating so instead of ignoring the problem, you should think about checking out a new phone.
The battery is swollen.
The kinds of physical changes a phone undergoes when the battery is bulging are dangerous, and a component damaged this way is a sign that chemicals are breaking down inside the battery. Unless you want the phone to short-circuit or the battery to catch fire, it’s a good idea to immediately stop using it and head to the store for a replacement.
The phone is extremely slow
Keeping the software up-to-date, getting rid of unnecessary files, uninstalling some applications, taking a second look at the device settings, or even resetting the phone are many of the ways to improve the performance of a phone, but if after testing all the phone, stop going slower and slower, you will most likely need to replace it.
The camera takes too long to capture a photo.
If you have an old phone , it is very likely that at a photographic level it is far behind the cameras that are at the latest top of the range on the market. But one type of problem that you shouldn’t suffer from is shutter lag. If an endlessly long period of time passes between the moment you press the shutter and the moment the phone actually takes a photo, that’s not a good sign for the longevity of your phone.
The battery doesn’t last half a day
Decreased battery life is a sure sign that your phone is getting old. Tricks can be used to improve the battery of the mobile but the truth is that this is one of the components that wears the most of all that we can find in the phone. Each charge cycle wears down the cell and rare is the mobile that exceeds 1000 cycles. If we take into account that we charge our mobile every day, this means a useful life of close to two and a half years.
If the device only has enough power to stay on for a few hours at a time, it is not a good sign.
The connectors are deficient
If connecting the headphones or the charger to the mobile is torture because they do not fit well, it is quite likely that they are damaged and changing them is not exactly cheap. Also, the longer your phone has, the more dust it can affect its internal components.
The phone has fallen more than Bitcoin
We all accidentally drop our phones from time to time. And, if we are not very lucky, we cannot prevent them from coming across some liquid that can access the inside of the device from time to time.
If your mobile has been repeatedly clung, hit and splashed, it is very likely that sooner or later it will start to malfunction, even if you do not see marks or scratches on the outside of the phone. If the terminal has endured the unbearable over the years and you suspect that its current problems are related to it, then it may be a good idea to replace the phone before it completely stops working.
