Xiaomi is working on an update that will allow to measure the temperature in the Mi Band 5 and, we suppose, in the Mi Band 4 .. The same happens with its equivalent in the Amazfit catalog and its Amazfit Band 5, which already has a system oxygen measurement. In these times and where a high temperature is an excellent indicator that something is wrong, this is undoubtedly a very welcome novelty.
It is not the first time that this possibility has been discussed. In fact, for a long time several rumors circulated on the Internet about the possibility that the future Mi Band 6 would have tools to measure the temperature but it has not been until now that different clues have been found in the Mi Fi t application, which allows you to control the bracelet, pointing in this direction.
As can be seen in the app code, it is quite likely that, based on the heart rate collected by the sensor of the new Xiaomi bracelets , the application can track and control body temperature to notify us in case something is wrong. In addition, it is to be imagined that this new tool will reach several Xiaomi wearables, the Mi Band 4 and the Mi Band 5 being in all pools but what will happen with previous devices remains a mystery.
How can the Mi Band measure fever?
Easy and simple, imitating what the Notify & Fitness app already does, compatible with the bracelet and that it achieves through the pulse and, more specifically, the heartbeat. Fever causes an increase in heart rate, each increase in temperature of 1 ° C corresponds to eight more beats per minute and, therefore, if the heart rate increases at a rate greater than 8 beats per minute this could be an indication of that we may have gotten sick and have a fever.
Of course, this does not imply a 100% correct medicine, but it will serve as an indication to go to the health center or use the thermometer that we have at home to know if this notice of the Mi Band points in the right direction.
