The problems with the SIM cards are as old as the mobile phones themselves. It doesn’t matter if you have an entry-level mobile, medium or high, since they can arise at any time. Xiaomi phones can also be victims of this problem , which can sometimes arise from a hardware failure, although in most cases we can easily solve it.
There are few Xiaomi users who plague the official and unofficial forums of problems related to the SIM card. The variables that can affect the detection of the SIM card are very varied. In many cases, they can be resolved after a series of checks and adjustments.
SIM card issues
SIM or phone problem?
The first thing we will have to do is check if the problem may reside in the SIM card. To do this, we must try another card from another device, whether or not from our operator. If it works, we will be clear that we need to change our operator’s card , since the reading pins may have been damaged. Similarly, the problem sometimes comes after a stroke or a tray of the stuck SIM.
Similarly, another discard method is to test our SIM card in another terminal. In this way and if it works, we can know for sure that the problem is in our phone and not in the card.
Clear the “Phone settings” cache
Another method that works is to clear the phone settings cache. To do this we first remove the SIM card from our mobile. Then we go to Settings / Applications / Telephone services. Once inside we will have to select “Clear data and cache”. Additionally, we go to the Network Settings and click on “ Restore network settings” . Once done we must only re-insert the SIM card and restart our device.
IMEI number removed
One of the most serious errors can occur when losing the IMEI of the device. This will cause our Xiaomi not to detect the SIM card. Many users have solved this problem, although it is a more cumbersome method that needs to be root. Then we will have to install the Terminal Emulator app and enter the following commands, and then restart the device.
- Code: dd if = / dev / zero of = / dev / block / bootdevice / by-name / modemst1
- Code: dd if = / dev / zero of = / dev / block / bootdevice / by-name / modemst2
Clean the SIM and mobile slot
It is also important to clean the SIM card, as well as the mobile slot where it is inserted. Dirt problems are often the cause of our device not recognizing it. The first step is to remove the card and clean the gold contacts with a dry cloth. The mobile slot must also be cleaned with a soft suede on the pins. Once finished, we will reinsert the SIM and check if it already recognizes it.
Reset to factory settings
This method is the previous step before going to the Technical Service. In this way we will erase all the adjustments and any possible conflict that could have occurred with an app. If all goes well, the phone will detect the SIM card again. To restore a Xiaomi mobile to factory settings, enter Settings / Additional settings / Backup and reset / Reset to factory settings
