There are many mid-range devices that sometimes contest the throne of the most powerful high-end on the market. They are devices that include very powerful hardware elements, that can rival more expensive mobiles, and that tempt the user to be the chosen one when buying. We have an example in the Xiaomi Mi Note 10, which can make things difficult for an entire Huawei P30 Pro , as we will see in our comparison.
Some claim that mid-range devices will continue to gain traction in 2021 at the sales level. Users looking for savings find plenty of arguments under 500 euros, as to venture into more expensive terminals whose technological innovation is undermined in just one year. If we take a close look at the Mi Note 10 and the P30 Pro , we find a mid-range that went on sale in late 2019 and a high-end that did the same at the beginning of the same year.
Screen and dimensions
If we take a look at the screen, we see that they are both the same size, reaching 6.47 inches and a FullHD + resolution. However, the P30 Pro has OLED technology, more advanced and expensive in production than the AMOLED panel of the Mi Note 10. However, both are compatible with HDR technology to enhance the display of multimedia content. Another similar element is the notch in the form of a drop that both have to house the front sensor. Both have a fingerprint sensor under the screen.
As for the dimensions and weight, the Xiaomi terminal reaches 208 grams and 9.67 millimeters, two considerable data and where the Huawei P30 Pro far exceeds it, with its 192 grams and 8.4 millimeters thick. As we will see later, it is more than likely to blame for the larger battery built into the Mi Note 10. However, the P30 Pro is a phone that carries better in the pocket than its rival.
Very different processors
When we look at the processors of both terminals, it is where we see the difference in range between one and the other. The Mi Note 10 sports a Snapdragon 730G, an efficient processor, but it does not reach the performance levels of the Kirin 980 that the P30 Pro sports. If we consider the AnTuTu performance program, we can get an idea of where both are located terminals, since the Mi Note 10 Lite touches the 265,000 points compared to more than 406,000 points achieved by the P30 Pro.
The Mi Note 10 arrived in Spain with a single variant of 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage, an aspect that is also surpassed by the P30 Pro with its 8 GB of RAM and variants of up to 512 GB. Both have UFS 2.1 reading technology but only the P30 Pro allows you to expand your storage capacity with memory cards.
Cameras
However, when we look at the camera section, it seems that the high-end device was the Mi Note 10, whose subsequent release has given it a certain advantage, at least in the numbers of this hardware. The Xiaomi terminal has no less than five rear sensors , consisting of a 108 megapixel main lens, a 12 megapixel telephoto lens, a 20 megapixel wide angle, a 5 megapixel telephoto sensor and a 2 megapixel macro sensor. On its front we find a 32 megapixel selfie sensor.
For its part, the P30 Pro sports a main 40-megapixel sensor, accompanied by a 20-megapixel wide angle, an 8-megapixel telephoto lens and a 3D ToF sensor. Although with fewer sensors and fewer megapixels, the P30 Pro is one of the terminals that achieves the best results on the market, also having a 5X optical zoom, compared to the 3.7X optical zoom of the Mi Note 10 . Like its rival, the front sensor reaches 32 megapixels.
Many “milliamps”
In the battery section is where Xiaomi draws muscle, since it has endowed the Note 10 with no less than 5,260 mAh, compatible with 30W fast charging that can charge almost 60% of the terminal in half an hour. The P30 Pro has less milliamps, reaching 4,200 mAh, but it is superior in its charging technology, with 40W that allows it to charge 70% of the terminal in half an hour. In addition, it has additional charging technologies such as wireless charging or reverse charging. Both have Android 10, updated to the latest layers of each brand, MIUI 12 and EMUI 10.1 respectively. They also have the expected connections like Bluetooth 5 or NFC.
Significant difference in price
At the moment, we can buy a Xiaomi Mi Note 10 for about 380 euros , a price that must be taken into account in view of its benefits, but taking into account that its brain is far from high-end processors. The P30 Pro for its part, although it has dropped in price over the months, is available for about 540 euros . We are talking about an approximate difference of 160 euros, between a high-end of 2019 and a premium mid-range of the same year.
