Xiaomi was a pioneer in the world of laser projectors , as it was the first to launch a short-throw projector at a cheap price. Now, they are one of the most specialized and advanced companies in this segment, with projectors that offer excellent image quality and greater comfort by being able to put it a few centimeters from the wall. Now, they have improved the 4K version , the most advanced of all.
Xiaomi has announced the Xiaomi Laser Cinema 2 , a short throw projector with a 0.23: 1 ratio, even shorter than previous models. Thanks to this, it is possible to have a 100-inch screen by placing it only 20 centimeters from the surface on which we want to project the image, such as a wall or a projection screen.

In addition, we can place it closer or further as we want, with sizes ranging from 40 to 200 inches . However, it must be borne in mind that, the further we move it away, the worse the image quality will have. Therefore, Xiaomi recommends that screen sizes between 80 and 150 inches be projected.
Xiaomi’s new Laser Cinema 2 is also the world’s first projector to support Dolby Vision . Thanks to this, you can enjoy HDR content in a higher quality than before, with good brightness, contrast, detail and color, together with 4K resolution.
Thus, the brightness has been increased by 20% compared to the previous generation, reaching 2,400 ANSI lumens . This guarantees us a great image quality even with some ambient light, ideal if we want to use the projector in an area that is not 100% dark. The contrast it offers is 3000: 1 , and in addition to Dolby Vision, it also decodes HDR10 .
The highest level of brightness and the best color reproduction have been achieved using a new projection technology. Laser projectors typically use ALPD technology, which stands for Advanced Laser Phosphor Display .
Technological improvements
However, in this model the fluorescent technology that we find is ALPD RB + , which makes the red color have a higher level of brightness by including red lasers. The color rendering deviation is less than 2.9, so the image we see is very realistic. In addition, it has a nearby people detection mechanism, where if someone gets close to the lasers, the brightness is lowered to a minimum to avoid damaging the eyes.
The projector has dual built-in speakers with a power of 15 W , which makes it possible to dispense with external speakers in the event that we cannot use them at specific times. The sound exit area has an inverted tube design to give the audio more body. It also has long-range microphones to use the voice assistant.
Internally we also find a quad-core MediaTek MT9669 processor, capable of processing 4K images up to 120 Hz , in addition to having AI to improve the image and reduce noise automatically. It is accompanied by 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal memory . In connectivity, we find three HDMI 2.0b ports, two USB 3.0, optical, Ethernet and WiFi. Finally, the projector has MIUI TV, but in its international version they will equip Android TV like the other projectors they have sold in Spain.
