Windows Wireless Service is not Running: How to Fix it

Wireless networks have become a widely used option by users. A few years ago, it was normal to navigate through equipment connected by cable. However, the rise of mobile devices and the greater capacity of Wi-Fi networks have made it more common today to surf without cables. But of course, this can also bring problems. Today we explain what to do if we see the failure that the Windows wireless service is not running.

Windows Wireless Service is not running

Problems with wireless networks can arise in any operating system. However, the most used today in desktop computers is Windows 10. For this reason, we are going to focus on this failure that can affect users and the way they surf the net. They may have trouble connecting to networks.

Trying to connect to a Wi-Fi network can cause problems. Sometimes the fault is with the wireless router itself. Maybe the network is not well configured or the signal is not the best. But on many other occasions the problem resides in the system itself. There may be a software conflict, an incomplete update, or a program that is incorrectly configured. Now, among these errors, one that we can find in Windows is the one that indicates that the wireless service is not running.

Luckily we have different options to try to fix this problem. You just have to follow a series of simple steps that we are going to explain.

Update drivers

Something we always recommend is to keep the drivers updated . It is very important to always have the latest versions of all types of software that we use. On the one hand, we are going to obtain improvements in terms of performance, since with each update they usually introduce positive changes. But also on the other hand we are going to improve our security.

Sometimes having outdated drivers can generate conflicts that translate into errors when browsing the network. For this reason it can also be important to have the drivers always updated to the latest version.

For this in this case we have to go to Start, write Device Manager and run it. Inside we will see the option of Network adapters and look for our wireless card. We have to right-click and hit Update Driver.

Check WLAN Automatic Configuration Service

Another step we must take is to check the automatic WLAN configuration service. In Windows there are many services that work so that everything is in order. However, sometimes a key service may not be configured correctly.

In this case we press the key combination Win + R and execute services.msc . Once we are there, we must look for the Automatic WLAN configuration service. We have to make sure that the state is running. If it is not, we will have to right-click it, enter Properties and, within the Startup type, select Automatic.

Run the SFC command

We can also take this function into account. The SFC command scans all protected system files and replaces those that may be corrupted with a cached copy of that same file. This can help solve problems.

For this we simply have to enter Start, write cmd and run it as administrator. Then you have to run the sfc / scannow command. We wait for it to finish and we restart the computer. Then we can test if the error with the Windows wireless service persists.

Reset Winsock

Without going too far, we can also run another command to solve this problem. This time we are going to reset Winsock. We have to run the netsh winsock reset command .

As we did before, when this process ends we will have to restart the computer and check if the changes have been positive.

In short, if we encounter the problem that the Windows wireless service is not running, we can carry out these steps.
