The latest versions of Windows, especially 8 and 10, were designed to create a Microsoft Account and log in with it on the PC. These types of accounts allow us to be connected to the company’s servers, to be able to use services such as OneDrive and to synchronize our data through the company. Little by little, Microsoft has been complicating the task of creating an offline account, or local, in Windows 10. The possibility has even been raised that, very soon, these accounts will cease to exist. However, Windows 11 will not yet force us to go through the hoop of these types of accounts.
Microsoft accounts are very useful and comfortable, especially if we are going to use Office, OneDrive or we plan to connect to the Microsoft Store to download apps or free games from Xbox Game Pass. However, there are users who prefer not to depend so much on Microsoft, for whatever reason, and prefer that their account be independent of these services.
With Windows being a service that increasingly depends on the cloud, the logical thing is to think that, sooner or later, local accounts will disappear. However, Windows 11 will not yet be the operating system to end them.
Creating a local account, or offline, is “more or less easy” in Windows 11
One of the things that has changed the most about Windows 10 is its installation process. Although the first phase of it is the same as that of Windows 10, and Windows 8.1, the initial OS configuration wizard has radically changed.
At the point of creating a user account, by default we will find that the assistant asks us for an email, mobile or Skype account to log in and create our linked online account.
At first glance we cannot find the option to create the account offline. However, if we click on the button ” Sign-in Options “, or “Login Options” when it is translated, we will be able to find the option we are looking for.
By selecting the option ” offline account ” we can create a local account in Windows 11, and use it without depending on Microsoft services. Of course, if we log in at any time, when trying to use any company service, our account will automatically become a connected account.
A Windows 10 made up
Windows 11 is giving a lot to talk about. The company’s new operating system is not as novel a system as the changes from 98 to XP, from XP to 7, or from 7 to 10 have been. Actually, it is a new version of Windows 10 with cosmetic changes , but, in the end, a Windows 10.
There is still time for Microsoft to implement all kinds of changes and improvements within its OS, since the new Windows 11 has not yet been or officially presented. In addition, there is still time until October or November, when this operating system will supposedly come out, for Microsoft to implement more internal changes that make us think that, really, it is a new system and not a Windows 10 with a new cheap hat.
