Windows 11: Trick to Avoid the Mandatory Connection to the Internet from Home

As the days go by we learn more details about Windows 11, Microsoft‘s operating system that we will be able to know officially this week. We have already been able to know the new interface, the new elements of this operating system and also some good news about it, such as that its performance , right now, is superior to that of Windows 10. But there are also some aspects of the new OS that we do not finish convincing. And one of them is the fact of forcing us to have Internet to complete the installation of the Home edition.

This is not something new. Since the release of Windows 10, Microsoft has been trying very hard to get users to create a Microsoft Account when setting up the operating system for the first time. With each OS update, it became increasingly difficult to complete the installation without logging in with an online account. Unfortunately, the arrival of Windows 11 is going to complicate this even more, especially for Home edition users.

Windows 11: Trick to Avoid the Mandatory Connection to the Internet

Windows 10 Home will force Internet to complete installation

Last week we could see that, in Windows 11 Pro, when creating a new user account we could enter the login options to create an offline account, without connection. In addition, if we are installing the Pro edition and we do not have Internet, the operating system itself will allow us to skip the connection process and continue without Internet, not being mandatory to go through Microsoft’s ring at any time.

But this does not happen in the Home edition. If we are installing this “home” edition of the operating system, we will encounter many more barriers that will prevent us from continuing with the OS installation if we do not have an active connection.

The Home edition does not show us the login options when creating a new account as it happens with the Pro. Therefore, if the Internet connection has been validated, we will no longer be able to create an offline account.

But this is not the only impediment. The logical thing would be to disconnect from the Internet when installing the OS to avoid having to log in with the Microsoft Account . The problem is that, while in the Pro edition of Windows 10 we can “skip” the connection process, in Home this option does not exist.

Microsoft does not show us any option that allows us to continue without an Internet connection. However, if we get to this point, we should know that there is a simple trick thanks to which we will be able to skip this step.

In search of help Alt + F4

Despite Microsoft’s attempts to make all users go through the hoop and create an online account for the operating system, there is a little trick that will allow us to continue without having to create this account in the Home edition.

To do this, all we have to do is follow the Windows 10 initial setup wizard to the point where it asks us to connect to the Internet. Here, what we will do is press the keyboard shortcut Alt + F4 . By doing so, we will automatically exit the network selection window, and we will be able to continue with the installation of the operating system using a local account, offline.

We do not know if this trick will continue to work when Microsoft releases the final version of the OS, but for now, it can be a quick way to test this new system without having to log in.
