Windows 10 will have dozens of new features in the second half of this year . The arrival of 21H1 is just around the corner, but the big update will be 21H2 . In it we are going to see a multitude of changes at a visual and functional level, and now it has been confirmed that we are going to receive two great news in the task manager.
Microsoft has been gradually improving the task manager, adding functions such as being able to see the temperature and performance of the graphics card, or being able to quickly see the network consumption that a process is doing. The last big improvement was included last year with the May 2020 Update, and finally this year they are going to add two more.
Eco mode for processes in task manager
The first is a new feature called ” Eco Mode “. With this function, Windows 10 will allow us to limit the consumption of resources that an application can make, preventing the consumption of resources such as RAM or the processor from skyrocketing. Thanks to this, we can prevent an application from triggering, for example, the consumption of RAM and blocking the use of other elements in the system.
Thanks to this, energy consumption peaks are also avoided. When the CPU is at 100% it consumes a lot of resources and battery, which is quite annoying on a laptop. One of the elements that most often triggers the consumption of resources in laptops are Windows updates, which, if we have not used a computer for a long time, begin to shoot up the consumption of resources. With this, the consumption of resources is smoothed, allowing us to save battery and do things as soon as the computer starts up. Of course, be careful what you touch, since there are processes in Windows 10 that you should not close.
Edge tab in task manager
The second novelty that comes is the integration of Edge tabs in the Task Manager. With this function, we can monitor Edge resource consumption, being able to quickly see which tab or extension is consuming more RAM, network or graphics card resources. This function is included natively in browsers such as Edge or Chrome itself, but the fact of being able to see it natively in the Task Manager is much more comfortable, since it allows us to solve problems with the task manager at a single glance. .
In addition, it will be possible to organize Edge processes through predefined categories. For example, we can see if it is a network process, an extension or a tab that we have open.
Linux apps natively interface on Windows 10
Today we have also learned in the last build for Insiders that Windows 10 will have full support for Linux applications with an interface , instead of only using a terminal with WSL as it happened until now. Thanks to this, we can run editors, tools and apps to develop and test elements in the operating system with great ease.
