When the time comes to continue watching our favorite series or a new movie that has just been released on a platform like HBO Max, the truth is that we do not expect any kind of problem at any time. However, whether we like it or not, they can always happen. And the worst of all is that they usually appear when we least expect them.
We are facing a platform that offers us all kinds of content, from original series, miniseries of all kinds of themes, blockbuster movies… Although, HBO Max’s problems are there. So, it’s time to see what needs to be improved so that we don’t have to wait for the series to load properly, the movie to be cut from time to time, the quality to be changed or, directly, the platform to not work.
HBO Max technical problems
Depending on each user, we also include ourselves, we will have suffered one type or another of failure that has already made us bitter and has made us stop watching the series or movie that we had started. From the repeated cuts , the change in content quality, even if we have a good connection or until the platform shows no signs of life.

Why is the platform not working?
One of the first errors that may appear to us will be that the platform does not work on our device, be it on the mobile, Smart TV, tablet or PC . If it is the first time that you were going to enter the streaming service, you must take into account that it is compatible:

- Fire TV : Amazon and HBO Max do not specify a minimum version on their official support page.

- LG Smart TV with webOS 3.5 or later.
However, if you have been using their app before, the error could be in the version of the app you are running. So make sure you have the latest version. On the other hand, if you have accessed directly from the computer’s browser, try from another of the many browsers out there. Well, the fault could be in the browser you were using.
HBO Max is slow or cuts out
Two of the most frequent problems are the repeated cuts when playing any content, be it 4K, Full HD, HD… In addition to the slowness when loading the movie or series we wanted to watch for the first time. These two are the most common, so, for this, we will have to carry out a series of basic checks before blaming the platform.
You have internet?
We must be clear that, if the Internet connection we have at home is bad, the platform or app of our Smart TV will not work well or load as fast as it should. In addition to that the image quality will not be the best. Therefore, we will have to check if it is the fault of our network or it is a matter of the HBO Max service.
Therefore, if we are from a mobile, we can try to remove the WiFi and put the mobile data, although we recommend this if we have an unlimited data rate. If you have a TV, try using the cable connection if you have the router nearby.
In case you can’t, you can always go to websites that will tell us what Internet speed we have at that moment. One of the most used is Speed Test . From there, we can know the speed of our connection. If the connection is poor, it will be clear that the fact that the movie is cut or that it works slowly, will be the fault of the Internet connection that we have.
Sign out and restart the device
If we continue with the failures in HBO Max , from the streaming platform itself they recommend us to log out from the app or web before continuing. Once we have closed it, we will have to turn off the device that we are using, that is, it will have to be restarted. Although, before this, it is best to close the application or browser and re-enter. To close session you will have to do the following:
- Access the Settings on your smartphone, tablet, computer, web browser, Smart TV or console.
- Tap Sign Out .
In this way, we will not waste time restarting the device if it is only a punctual failure. If HBO Max still does not load or is slow , you will have to restart the Smart TV, mobile, tablet or PC. We can even try to restart the router. Finally, reopen the app and log in.
