Android App: How to See Who Connects to My WiFi and Steals My WiFi

Today we are going to discover in a simple way who connects to your WiFi using an Android app. The application chosen this time is called Who is in my WIFI and thanks to it we can find out the devices that are connected at that time very easily and quickly. Although currently the main manufacturers of routers such as ASUS, NETGEAR, AVM FRITZ! Box, D-Link and many others have applications that provide us with this information, your router may not have this possibility, and you need to use third-party applications.

The first thing we have to do to find out who connects to your WiFi is to download this free app from the Play Store:

See Who Connects to My WiFi and Steals My WiFi

Once the app has started, we will get a screen like this:

Here it will give us three options to choose from:

  1. One that shows ads relevant to our interests.
  2. The other would show less relevant ads and a little more privacy.
  3. Pay for the ad-free version.

In this case, choose between the first and the second option to see if you like the app before buying it. This explains the privacy policy, which states that no personal information is collected.

Once we have read everything, we will accept to be able to use this app that will allow us to know who connects to your WiFi. This is the main screen of Who is in my WIFI.

Quién está en mi WIFI

As you can see, we have three devices connected to our Wifi network and the name of our network does not appear. Instead we have unknown ssid . If we press to the right of 3 connected devices we have a symbol that allows us to check / refresh if there are changes in the network. The first time we do it we are going to be asked to use location for which we will click on enable permission.

Next, the Android operating system of our device will ask us if we want to enable it. In this case, we are going to allow you to use the location permission with this app.

I already told you that in this type of network apps, it is very common to have to enable it to be able to use it without losing any functionality.

Now as you can see the name of my Wifi Network 2 appears instead of unknown ssid which is what appeared before. Above all to the right represented by the tool wheel we have the preferences or configuration options. Right now the app is in a clear mode and with many details, which is how it comes by default.

At this time it is time to customize it and leave it to our liking.

Here I have decided to apply three changes to it:

  1. Recognize the manufacturer to show it to us when scanning the network.
  2. Dark mode to replace the white background with black.
  3. View of the compact list that will show us the devices in two lines.

Now is the time to see who connects to your WiFi in a different way:

As you can see, the changes are substantial, we have a black background and the devices represented by two lines. One of those new lines is the manufacturer of the device which did not appear before. It is also observed that we have less information, but we have not lost it. For example, if we touch on the mobile we will recover that information that we had before and we will also get some more.

In this section we can see among other things:

  1. Local IP of the device.
  2. MAC address.
  3. Gateway.
  4. DNS.

To the left of the options tool wheel we have the filter tool. If we click, it will allow us to filter by MAC, IP and name.

If we choose IP and we accept, we will obtain these results.

In this case we can say that it has been ordered correctly by the access point has the IP 192.168.1.1 and the PC with Gigabyte plate 2. To the left of filtering with the symbol of a magnifying glass we have to search . There, putting a name will show us the one that matches the search criteria.

Finally, next to Search you have Recents which we are going to click now.

If we click on the name of our network it will show us the devices that have been connected.

Therefore, with this app we can know who is connecting to your WiFi and thus know if we have an intruder on the network. In case of having a connected device that we do not recognize, what we should do is check the MAC address and think if we have had a guest at home, if you do not recognize that specific device, it is best that you change the access password to guarantee the security and privacy of your communications.
