WhatsApp Security: Face ID Required to Log into the Web

Application security should be a priority for many. They store a lot of information that can be compromised and WhatsApp knows it. That is why they are already implementing new security measures that will allow a verification of the identification of users to be able to open the session on a computer. All this with the aim of avoiding leaks of personal messages without express permission. We tell you all the details below.

WhatsApp strengthens the security of its service

WhatsApp has announced through a communication on the social network Twitter the news that it proposes to introduce. This will begin to be implemented from the same Thursday and will require users to identify themselves through Touch ID or Face ID before synchronizing messages with the web version. This is something that until now was quite uncontrolled since at any time you could log in to a computer and synchronize all the messages. It was not necessary to identify the user to know that he was the initiator of the session.

WhatsApp Security: Face ID Required

As of Thursday, and in a staggered manner, when wanting to synchronize WhasApp with WhatsApp Web or desktop, a scan of the face or fingerprint will be requested. Once the user has been identified, they will be able to access the camera that will allow them to scan the QR code that will appear on the computer screen. From that moment on, anyone with access to your phone is guaranteed to synchronize your account with the computer.

WhatsApp para Mac

On the one hand, it must be taken into account that this is an improvement in personal safety, although on the other it undoubtedly becomes more tedious. A priori there is no way to deactivate this security measure in the service settings. It can only be done by disabling all the security measures of the iPhone itself, be it Face ID or Touch ID. Obviously this makes the equipment totally vulnerable to anyone picking it up and manipulating it without your permission. That is why if you need someone to have access to the service, you can add faces to other users’ Face ID or different fingerprints.

Privacy is undoubtedly quite a peculiar issue when talking about WhatsApp as Facebook is the owner. From the service they have wanted to make it clear from the beginning that the company will not have access to biometric data. They will always be stored on the mobile device so that you can always be totally calm on that side. This is a further step in the process of blocking WhatsApp with the fingerprint , to guarantee the privacy of the users. We will have to see if in the end privacy can also become a priority for Facebook with the application of new measures in this regard.
