Without a doubt, one of the best series that we can see on Netflix has a name as short as it is remembered: Dark . Throughout three seasons, its creators were able to guide us by the hand through one of the most twisted, exciting and remembered time travel plots in history, not only on streaming platforms, but also including cinema. Few times have we enjoyed so much with a fiction of these characteristics.
A ship and a mystery
Now, Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese, creators of the 1899 series (instead of four letters, four numbers), have decided to take the action at the end of the 19th century to an ocean liner, one of those that crossed the ocean full of emigrants from countless European countries who went to America in search of opportunities, of a better life. The problem is that on the way, they will run into another ship and that is where the strange phenomena will begin. Or the mystery

Now, when there is hardly half a year left before it opens (the end of 2022 is the data provided today by Netflix) , part of the cast that will participate is known. Not so much the names of the actors, but some of the identities that they will interpret in fiction. Not in vain, the cast is on this occasion one of its enormous strengths, with actresses and actors from the United Kingdom, Russia, Denmark, Germany and also Spain.
What we know about the cast
As we tell you, a good part of the cast is known, either from the trailer, or from the scant information that exists about the series, which is practically taking its history seriously, lest we take some key information as a gift for its development. So it will be time to see how Netflix’s communication policy evolves to delve even deeper into a story that promises to keep us glued to the screen from the first minute and until the last.
At the moment, we only know from the official trailer published at the beginning of June, that the leading (or rather central) role could fall on the character of Maura Franklin, played by Emily Beecham, since she is the only one named in that advance and that puts in context some of what happens with the voiceover. From there, nothing more is known. Only loose names of the main cast that is available on IMDb.
That yes, the fiction is going to maintain, at least in its original version, a very clear premise that has to do with the language of each character. Being a ship full of emigrants from different countries of the continent, its creators want the dialogues between them to take place in their mother tongue , so unless the dubbing decides otherwise, we will need a good amount of subtitles to understand, not just Spanish or English, but also French, German, Russian and any of the other languages present on the ship.
