What is the hardest Pokémon card to get

In the last year we have seen the craze break out with Pokémon cards. The few units of the famous ‘Pikachu Illustrator’ card have been changing hands, significantly multiplying their price with each exchange. The last buyer of one of these cards was the youtuber Logan Paul , who bought a unit in condition 10 out of 10 on the PSA scale for 5.25 million dollars , six times more money than the record set a few months earlier for the same card. But what if we said that ‘ Pikachu Illustrator’ isn’t the hardest card to get in the Pokémon Trading Card Game ?

Hey Logan Paul: Your Pikachu Illustrator is only worth money

The barrier that prevents you from getting a card like ‘Pikachu Illustrator’ is money. About 39 existed and were given to children in the 1990s. Many of them would be lost and even thrown away. However, there are cards so rare that they don’t even have an assigned monetary value yet, since they have never changed hands. They are so difficult to obtain that most collectors have thrown in the towel and consider it impossible to get hold of one of these Pokémon cards. We could talk about several cards, but there are three very special ones that have existed since 2021 and that we know will never be auctioned .

Celebrity Cards – Pokémon 25th Anniversary

Pokémon’s 25th birthday was very recently, and The Pokémon Company decided to award a unique card to three celebrities who had contributed to the franchise : Katy Perry, Post Malone and J Balvin. The cards were given directly to the singers, and only one of each was ever printed .

The cards are not just decorative, but have an action associated with them just like any other trainer card you might use in your deck. The probability that one of these cards will come up for auction is practically nil.

Katy PerryV

Katy Perry is accompanied by her Pikachu exactly like in her Electric music video. The design of this card was entrusted to Yuu Nishida, an illustrator who won the first Pokémon Game Illustration Grand Prix in history and became part of the official Pokémon TGC template.

This card’s ability is ‘Heartbeat Ray’, and it deals 20 damage to each sidelined opponent.

J Balvin V

The design was carried out by Nagimiso. In the letter, the singer is accompanied by a Charizard with a rather defiant look. The card was given to him as a thank you for the Be Careful (Pokémon 25 Version) video, which reminded us all of the best moments of Pokémon Go.

The letter is so personalized that even the attack is in Spanish. ‘Rhythm Flame’ does 100 extra damage on the next turn.

Post Malone V

Accompanied by Dragonite , Post Malone was designed by Naoki Saito. The letter was given to him in gratitude for the Only Wanna Be With You video and for the concert he gave for the anniversary of Pokémon.

The card’s attack is Multi Beat, and it does 20 extra damage for each energy card accumulated.

Of the three cards, experts say this one will never go to auction . Post Malone is a huge fan of the Pokémon TGC and is involved in the Magic the Gathering community. Come on, you must feel very proud to have the only ‘Post Malone V’ card in the world.
