Undoubtedly one of the most curious things that exists is outer space and everything that surrounds it: both planets and satellites or galaxies. Virtual reality offers a unique experience
This technology allows the user to immerse themselves in a virtual “world” and enjoy an unforgettable experience, to the point that sometimes some people even become so concentrated that they forget about the real world until everything is finished.
An immersive series called Space Explorers: The International Space Station Experience will soon allow us to see what it is like to float in space . To achieve this, one of the creators of the series customized a virtual reality camera and connected it to a robot to capture 360-degree 3D scenes from outside the International Space Station.
The camera that has been used is a model that is available to buy in stores, so anyone can get it. It has up to nine 4K sensors that allow it to capture 360-degree 3D images in 8K resolution.
Although the camera has been improved to withstand different extreme situations such as ultraviolet rays, extreme temperatures or the effects of possible asteroids. The team attached the camera to a robotic arm found around the station.
After years, the project will come true
The executive producer of the series has assured that they have been working on this project for more than six years and it will finally become a reality. It has also stated that capturing the Earth in 3D, 360 degrees from space, has not been attempted outside of the space station.
The episodes from where you can enjoy this immersive experience will be available soon. One chapter can be seen in autumn and another in winter. It can be seen on mobile devices enabled for 5G technology and that can use 360-degree virtual reality systems.
These 5G devices will be enabled by the main operators around the world. It can also be enjoyed as immersive virtual reality experiences at Oculus Rift, Quest and Quest 2 stores.
