Watch Netflix or Disney+ from YouTube?

Google wants YouTube to be the hub of your streaming apps. We use the web and video platform to subscribe to channels of content creators and we do it for free to see what they upload. But Google wants to go one step further and intends to become a channel store. In other words, we could watch Netflix or Disney from YouTube in the same way that you watch any other channel of your favorite YouTuber.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Google wants to use YouTube to create a channel store. In the same way that you subscribe to free channels, you could now do so to paid channels that would allow us to access content from these platforms directly from YouTube without the need for a new website or an application.

I would do it just like we already do with the Amazon Prime Video channels: we can get a series of channels with extra content in exchange for a monthly payment but we watch it from the streaming platform and without changing the application. This, on Amazon, gives us the option to watch content from platforms such as FlixOlé, such as MUBI, such as Starzplay… As we have explained on our site on occasion, Amazon Prime Video allows us to subscribe to these channels and pay for them depending on whether we are interested or not. the content and we access its series or programs as a complement to what Amazon Prime Video already offers us with its originals.

An idea that, according to the aforementioned medium, has already been polishing for months. According to information published in The Wall Street Journal, Google has been negotiating with producers and companies for 18 months and this idea is expected to become a reality during the fall of this year in order to give a boost to a platform that is still essential for millions of users but has seen how rivals like Twitch were growing.

As in the case of Prime Video, we would pay each installment independently but we would have a single application with all the content and YouTube would be the center to access all of it, although we still do not know details about this project or what the price of subscriptions or what advantages will you have compared to hiring independently. We also don’t know what platforms will be integrated into YouTube, although Netflix and Disney+ are mentioned as some of the options.

We will see in the coming months what Google’s plans are and if YouTube really becomes the center to access all our favorite series and movies.
