Despite the efforts made by the companies that develop the Internet browsers that we use on a daily basis, we do not always work with a 100% secure program. Hence precisely the constant security updates that reach us, as now happens in the case of the popular Google Chrome.
Keep in mind that these programs are precisely what we use to connect to the vast world of the Internet. Therefore, in addition to the functionality that they offer us and the modern default interface, everything related to privacy and security here takes on special importance. We tell you all this because at this precise moment we strongly recommend you update the Google browser as soon as possible.

The search giant has sent users of its project an emergency update that fixes the fifth zero-day bug in Chrome that was exploited earlier this year. Delving a little deeper into this recent release, it must be said that it also addresses about a dozen vulnerabilities. Among these we find the aforementioned zero-day security flaw that is already being exploited.
That is precisely why we encourage you to install this update that will be part of version 104 of Chrome . Therefore, we could consider that it is a minor patch but extremely important because it focuses exclusively on security flaws. It is worth mentioning that it is currently being deployed for computers based on Windows, Mac and Linux. This means that we should receive the patch from now, or in the next few hours.
How to fix this Chrome zero-day vulnerability
The truth is that Google does not usually provide many technical details about zero-day vulnerabilities, at least initially. By the time most Chrome users have applied the security update, it’s already gone a bit further on the subject. The one we are talking about at this time is known as CVE-2022-2856 , and it is the fifth security flaw of this type located in the browser.
Additionally, it is described as a high severity security issue that allows web applications and services to be launched directly from a web page. Therefore, patching all this is a priority at the moment. Thus, a bad validation of the input in the program would serve as a way to override the built-in protections. The vulnerability was discovered and reported by Ashley Shen and Christian Resell, both members of Google’s own threat analysis group.

Therefore, to protect ourselves from all this that we tell you, the first thing we do is open the internet browser as such. In the upper right corner we find the button that gives us access to the main menu of the application . This is represented by three vertical points, where we click.
Next, we just have to go to the Google Chrome Help / Information menu option. At that moment we should already receive the security patch that we mentioned automatically. To apply the update, once the download is complete, we only have to restart the browser.
