Most of the technology has an associated problem: it has an expiration date. We all buy devices of all kinds during our lives (whether mobiles, tablets or whatever), and as time goes by they become obsolete, to the point that we are forced to buy a new model. This leaves many devices “in the lurch” at home that, of course, we are embarrassed to recycle. If you have an old tablet at home, we will tell you how to give it “a second life” to watch DTT.
Just watching DTT on our televisions has been relegated to the past. Today we have several options to watch DTT without an antenna, either on our PC or on a mobile device. An old tablet still has a screen that, although it is true that it will not have the same quality as a current one, still offers a fairly valid image. We give you two ways so that you can watch DTT totally free and so you don’t have to part with your old device.

Use TDT Channels
Years go by, but there is no more complete and interesting option than TDT Channels. This application is fantastic so that we can see all the DTT channels from our mobile device, or as in this case, on our tablet. The only drawback that we can put to this application is that it is not found in the Google Play Store, so we will have to download its APK and install it manually .
The process to install an APK is really simple , but like everything else, it can happen that you don’t know how to carry it out. Our Android device will not allow us to install these files by default as a security measure, so first of all we must grant permissions for it. The process to install APK is as follows:
- We go to Settings or Configuration on our device
- We select the Applications option
- In this case, we recommend that you find both your browser and the file explorer you use
- Select them both and look for the Install unknown apps option in each one
- Click and on the new screen, choose Allow from this source

Once this is done, we only have to go through our browser to this link of TDT Channels , and press to download the most current version that we find. This is compatible from Android 5.0 , so you can install it on your old tablet without any problem.
Tivify is another great free option
Although we recommend that you use the TDT Channels option, you can also take a look at Tivify as its alternative . This platform has payment methods, but by creating a free account we will have access to a good number of DTT channels from our old Android tablet. Of course, we will have some limitation in the catalog of channels such as Telecinco.
The Android application in this case is available in the Google Play Store, but in order to use it we have to have Android 7 or later . As we said, all you have to do is install the application, create a free account with your email and you’ll be able to see some DTT options on your device. This free account also allows you to link 3 different devices, although it only allows simultaneous viewing.
