The secret speed cameras on the road: avoid fines in real time

In recent times there are many who are echoing the effectiveness of what are already known as secret radars , ‘invisible’, or Velolaser. Their own technical characteristics have made them receive precisely that nickname of ‘invisible’, although many other motorists and drivers’ associations are also calling them ‘undetectable’. For this reason, a website has been created to locate them all on the road.

Now you can know where these secret radars are located

The secret speed cameras on the road

Speed continues to be one of the main causes of fatal accidents , according to the DGT. In fact, in 2019, the last pre-pandemic year, 26% of people who lost their lives on the roads were due to speed. To remedy this, one of the measures adopted has been the Velolaser, the invisible or secret radars of the DGT that have been fining for the last few years.

We thus speak of what are the so-called Velolaser radars that are used to control infractions related to speeding on Spanish roads. These devices have a very small size and are wireless, so they can be placed on highways, conventional roads and in urban areas.

Since mobile speed cameras do not have to be signaled, unlike what happens with fixed speed cameras, they are often difficult to predict and their critics claim that they seek a collection effect, instead of remembering the need to maintain the established maximum speed. Although they do not maintain a fixed position, they have now detected where they are usually located , which can give an idea of the most insecure roads where the DGT seeks to reduce the maximum speed.

What is it about

The DGT has a total of 60 portable light laser cinemometers, which deal with small radars that premiered in 2018 and that seek to be imperceptible , as they can be installed on tripods, cars, motorcycles, gantries, cabins or even guardrails.

These radars work on a battery for about five hours and connect via Wifi or 4G. Their ability to fine is limited to two lanes and they detect infractions at a distance of between 15 and 50 meters, both during the day and at night.

And now, thanks to this interactive map that we present to you, you can locate the latest generation radars that are not marked. The reason for this is that normally these radars are not marked as they move , but some Google Maps users have created their locations.

Radares secretos carretera

There is a sign at each point where these secret radars are located with detailed information. In some cases there are even photos that show how discreet these radars are. Updated in real time , it will be very useful for us to use it by consulting the route you have chosen before starting your trip to confirm if there are any of these devices on it.

You will know how to avoid sanctions at all times

As you can see in this interactive map that we show you here , the DGT and the municipal and regional police resort to these small devices to hunt down excesses throughout the national territory. Many are concentrated in the Community of Madrid and neighboring provinces, but there is also a majority for Galicia.

But in general we find them in a good bulk of regions: Asturias, León, Cantabria, Salamanca, Palencia, Burgos, Valladolid, Navarra, Huesca, Zaragoza, Barcelona, Girona, Castellón, Valencia, Alicante, Murcia, Granada, Málaga, Cádiz or Huelva they are among them.
