The Movistar application allows us all kinds of functions that help us manage our connection , our WiFi network. The operator’s application has all kinds of functions that allow us to create guest networks, manage the router, create filters… And it also has a secret option to improve WiFi speed.
The Movistar Smart WiFi router has all kinds of intelligent functions so that we can stop worrying about network management and can dedicate ourselves exclusively to connecting to the Internet and that’s it. But we can also use the app for smartphones if we want to configure something or take better advantage of the connection.
Change the channel
We can change the channel from the Movistar application, from the Smart WiFi App. As explained by Movistar, “the Smart WiFi App is used to perform tasks that normally require access to the Smart WiFi Router. Instead, from your phone you will be able to solve problems related to the connection”. Without the need to enter the router, we can improve the speed.
How? The steps are simple… The first thing we have to do is download the application if we don’t already have it. It is compatible with Android and iOS and when you have downloaded it you can access your Movistar profile or account with our operator username and password. With the DNI and the password that you usually use to access the client area.
- We open the application
- We log in with ID and password, as we say
- We will see all connected devices
- We go to the “My network” section
- You can do a speed test to see what WiFi speed you have
- Tap on “WiFi Optimization”
As they collect from the operator’s blog, this button will check if the connection is adequate or if we can improve it. If it does not go well, we can touch on “Optimize”. The application will automatically search for us a WiFi channel that is less saturated without the need for you to do it and change it manually.
Another option: from the router
We do not necessarily need to have the mobile application if we want to have the best WIFI speed, but we can also access the router directly. We can do it from the Alejandra Portal portal with your account with username and password. But you can also access through the IP address, which will generally be 168.192.1.1, although Movistar recommends the first option.
From Movistar they explain how to change the automatic WIFI channel for another one you want: you can access through the browser with your password and Movistar user and go to the “advanced options” section in the “WiFi” or “WiFi Plus” section. From here we can change the WiFi channel of the Movistar router and we will see that it is marked by default as automatic and is chosen by the device but we can choose it manually if you think that having another one will be better.
Once we have made the relevant changes, we just have to save. We can change as many times as we want or consider necessary.
