The difference between the new Nothing Ear (Stick) and the Ear (1)

About a year ago, Nothing debuted its Ear (1), very groundbreaking headphones, with great sound quality and a very striking design. This year it is the turn of the Nothing Ear (Stick) , a product that is also committed to quality and design, but that does not replace the (1), but rather complements the brand’s line of headphones. What differences are there between both models?

Design differences

At first glance, there are a few changes between these two models of TWS headphones:

charging case

The Nothing Ear (Stick) wins by design. Its name does not refer to the headset itself, but to the cylindrical and transparent base that is used to recharge them.

We are not facing the typical case with a lid. To use the headphones, the user has to twist the tube like a lipstick. In fact, the advertising images of the Nothing Ear (Stick) are made to invite us to think that it is a cosmetic product.

On the other hand, the housing of the Nothing Ear (1) is square. Of course, the small box is also transparent.

The design line on both earphones is identical. However, the (1) are capped, while the new model has an ergonomic finish, without interchangeable rubber bands.

There are also changes when it comes to controlling the device. The touch controls of the Ear (1) have been replaced by pressing the (Stick). Apparently, the change is for the better, as accidental touches are prevented.

As we said, the Ear (Stick) have not come to replace the Ear (1). Nothing wants to offer a wider range of products. Hence, there are numerous differences between these two headphones:

Sound

The (Stick) debut a new personalized audio technology of the brand. In addition, they have 12.6 mm drivers, compared to 11.6 mm for the Ear (1). They also have some new software tweaks, like bass lock — and a new equalizer — that ensures less sound leakage and much more immersive audio.

They also support the latest sound codecs to avoid latency and maintain good sound quality during playback.

Active noise cancellation (ANC)

The main difference between these two models is the active noise cancellation , which is only present in model (1). The big downside that we can put to the Ear (Stick) is that they do not have this technology, because in the Ear (1), this feature is precisely its strong point.

Drums

With a single charge, you can listen to music for 6 hours straight with the Nothing Ears (1). The new model stretches that mark a little further, standing at 7 hours of uninterrupted use.

Regarding the total autonomy adding the capacity of the casing, the Nothing Ear (1) can reach 30 hours of use (with the ANC deactivated). One hour more than the (Stick).

In addition, the Nothing Ear (1) have wireless charging , a feature that is not present in the Nothing Ear (Stick).

Price and availability

Whether you go for the black model or if you opt for the transparent one, the Ear (1) are priced at 149 euros on the official Nothing website.

Regarding the Ear (Stick), they can already be booked on the manufacturer’s website for 119 euros .
