If you have already decided to buy a new graphics card, the most likely first thing you have done has been to set a maximum budget. Today we are going to make a technical comparison between the RX 5600 XT vs GTX 1660 Ti , graphics cards that cost more or less the same money, but that have very different characteristics , in order to see which of the two deserves more worth buying.
Although there are obviously different versions of the different assemblers of each brand, the launch price of these two graphics is the same. However, while AMD‘s RX 5600 XT has held or even gone up since its launch, the one on the GTX 1660 Ti has dropped slightly and can be found cheaper than AMD’s graphics. Here are some examples on Amazon Spain of the current price of these graphics in their cheapest model.
You see, there is a difference of about 40 euros between one and the other despite the fact that its launch price is identical. In any case, let’s see whether or not that price difference is worth comparing the technical characteristics of both graphics cards to see which one is better.

To begin with, it must be said that, despite the fact that the RX 5600 XT has a higher TDP than the GTX 1660 Ti (by 30 watts), it is a much more efficient graphic thanks to its manufacturing process at 7 nm compared to 12nm from the NVIDIA graph. This means that with a smaller die (251 vs. 284 mm²) they have been able to integrate almost twice as many transistors inside, which allows them to deliver more performance even when operating at considerably lower frequencies (1560 vs. 1770 MHz), which which assumes that the AMD Radeon graphics will work at lower temperatures. Point for AMD.
As for memory, both graphics cards have an identical configuration with 6 GB of GDDR6 VRAM running at an effective 12 GHz and delivering a bandwidth of 288 GB / s, so there is little to add here except for the fact that AMD modified the BIOS of the RX 5600 XT to boost the frequency to 1750 MHz (14 GHz effective), raising its bandwidth to 336 GB / s , and thus far exceeding the performance of the NVIDIA GPU.
However, it is worth noting the fact that, again, the Radeon RX 5600 XT is considerably more modern than the GTX 1660 Ti as it uses a PCIe 4.0 x16 interface compared to the PCIe 3.0 x16 of the NVIDIA graphics. The aforementioned added to this implies that the RX 5600 XT is capable of providing about 1,751 more TFLOPs of gross power than NVIDIA’s graphics, something that will translate into better gaming performance. New point for the AMD chart.
Many will say that this is an unfair comparison, because the AMD graphics are clearly more powerful and more modern than NVIDIA’s, but they are the same price after all. How do they behave in games anyway? Let’s see it.
Gaming performance
This performance graph in a couple of games is taken from our respective reviews, from the Sapphire Pulse Radeon RX 5600 XT and from the Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1660 Ti. One graph is not compared to the other because the tests were carried out on different systems, but we wanted to put them here together in order to have performance benchmarks for both graphs.
The superiority of the RX 5600 XT over the GTX 1660 Ti is obvious, as suggested by the technical specifications that we have analyzed in the previous section.
RX 5600 XT vs GTX 1660 Ti, which graphic is more worthwhile?
As we have seen, the RX 5600 XT is quite a superior graphics to the GTX 1660 Ti in almost every respect and especially due to the fact that it offers much superior performance. Now, keep in mind that the NVIDIA option is about 40 euros cheaper and has lower consumption, of course.
Under our reasoning the choice is clear: the RX 5600 XT is vastly superior to the GTX 1660 Ti and is therefore the option we would choose, as we believe that in this case it is worth the price increase for the performance improvement. that he gives us in return.
