When we want to choose the best power supply for our equipment, there are many factors that we must take into account, far beyond simply the maximum power or its efficiency certification. Today we are going to carry out a technical comparison of the Corsair CV650 vs TX650M power supplies to see if the price difference between the two is worth it, or if on the contrary we can save good money by acquiring the cheapest and with full guarantee.
Both power supplies have the same power and have a similar number of connectors, but under the hood they are quite different. At first glance we can already see that the Corsair TX650M is much more modern , with a more updated ATX standard. We also find that there are two steps of difference in terms of efficiency certification, since the CV650 has 80 Plus Bronze and the TX650M 80 Plus Gold , and with these two things alone we can assume that the TX family font is quite superior.
This means that the TX650M has better internal components, better adapted to modern hardware, and therefore means that it will be a longer-lasting power supply in the long run, although both have the same guarantee. However, the TX650M will also help us to save good money on electricity because its efficiency is much higher .

Also noteworthy is that the TX650M has a slightly larger fan, and while both sources lack Zero RPM functionality, this larger fan will also be quieter, at least a priori.
In relation to the cables, the CV650 is not modular while the TX650M is semi-modular , which means that except for the ATX and EPS cables that are fixed at the source, the rest of the wiring is modular and will facilitate installation in any pc case. In addition, these modular cables are flat , and it should be noted that it has two additional PCI-Express connectors , allowing us to connect configurations of various graphics cards, something that we will not be able to do with the CV650.
Is the Corsair TX650M worth paying more?
Given the technical characteristics of both power supplies, our verdict is yes. With the Corsair TX650M we will not only have a more modern power supply adapted to the latest hardware, but it is much more efficient, has semi-modular wiring, is quieter and has better connectivity, so we believe that the price difference does. it’s worth it.
Now this does not mean that the CV650 is a bad font, nothing further. It is an excellent option if you are on a tight budget but still want a good quality font but you can do without the advantages that we have specified above.
