One of the toys that revolutionized children and not so children of the late 90’s was the Tamagotchi . The first virtual pet demonstrated that there could be a connection between a human and a tiny screen with few pixels, something that made it a worldwide sensation that continues to be passed down from generation to generation. In an age where the selfie and TikTok reign among the youngest, Bandai Namco have thought that the best thing they could do to the Tamagotchi was to attach a camera to it. That is exactly what the new Tamagotchi Pix offers us , thus being able to take pictures of ourselves and place ourselves next to our pet on the color screen that it now mounts.
The camera will also serve to fulfill one of the main objectives of the toy, which is none other than to feed our creature. Through the camera, we can identify objects of different colors, and playing with the combination of certain colors we will give life to different food ingredients with which to feed our pet.
As our Tamagotchi grows, it will evolve into one creature or another, receiving a different profession depending on your care.
Connected, but no internet
Another novelty is related to the social environment, and is that the new Tamagotchi Pix can interact with up to 100 Tamagotchi creatures that we will reveal by taking photos with the camera. The device does not need an internet connection, so we do not know exactly what a friend or another will allow to discover with this function. And, in addition, the manufacturer adds that through the official website we can download articles and gifts to the device after completing certain missions, a process that we cannot understand how it will occur if you do not have an internet connection (a QR prize to unlock with the phone’s camera?).
The social touch
How could it be less, this new version also includes a social component with which to connect with the Tamagotchi of a friend. To do so, we will only have to share the so-called Tama code , which will probably make your friend’s creature appear on your screen.
Goodbye buttons
As a novelty, the classic front buttons have been replaced by three touch buttons that will work the same as always, with the difference of not being able to touch them directly as before. The only physical button (more or less), we will find it in the upper part, since the area of the shell of the housing hole is mobile, so that we can press it to take a photo as a shutter-release button.
