But if the whole family wants to listen to music, there is a possibility to do it more affordably with the Spotify Family Plan that allows up to six accounts with a single payment.

What is it?

The Spotify Family Plan is a plan in which you can have up to six Premium accounts with people living on the same roof. You will only pay a price for the six subscriptions and everyone can enjoy their music on their device. It is not mandatory to be at home to listen to the songs but you can do it while traveling, in the car or anywhere. Each member can listen to Spotify wherever, whenever and on their device with their own username and password.

Requirements

To be part of the Family Plan you have to live with the plan administrator , create your own Spotify account and receive an invitation to join the plan. If you already have a Spotify account, you can keep the account you already have and all the information you already have stored in it,

How much does it cost?

A single invoice of 14.99 is paid each month to the authorized person who has registered the subscription. The rest of the members will not have to pay anything else. In addition, the first three months are free to try the service as long as you have never been a Premium member.

It has no type of permanence and you can cancel the plan whenever you want.

Features and options

It is not a Spotify account that can be shared between six people. Each member of the Spotify Family Plan has access to their own Premium account, just sign in to Spotify . Each one can create their own playlists, each member has their personalized music recommendations according to their tastes or their history and all of them can access the Offline Mode, listen to music without ads or skip songs without any limit until you put the one you want.

You do not have to share login data or distribute time or fight to use it on one or another device. There are six individual accounts although with a single monthly payment and with some features such as Family Mix or parental control to control what music others listen to.

In the case of already having Spotify Premium individually, nothing will change. Upon entering the Spotify Family Plan you will keep all your saved music, your recommendations or your playlists.

An administrator

There is an administrator who will be in charge of carrying out the payments every month, establishing the address of all the members (or modifying it if necessary), adding or removing the people who are part of the plan or controlling the explicit music that can be heard by group members.

The plan administrator cannot change. In case you want to change it, you will have to cancel the plan and all accounts will return to the free service. From the next billing there may be a new administrator who opens a new plan and sends invitations to all people.

The administrator will also be in charge of changing the address of the address, either because you were wrong or because you moved. Just go to the “family” page of Spotify and follow the steps indicated by the service.

Family mix

Although everyone has their own tastes, there are times when you will all be together. For example, car trips or family gatherings. In that case, members of the Spotify Family Plan have access to Family Mix. Family Mix is a playlist based on the history of everything members hear and constantly updated. So there will be a mix of everything you like.

If you do not want or want to be included in Family Mix, you can exit the joint playlist from “Settings”. In addition, you will not have to listen to it and it will be enough not to choose the playlist.

Parental control

One of the advantages of the Spotify Family Plan is that you can set explicit content filters for your family members and you can decide who listens to what. That is, if there are minor children in the family and they have their own account in the plan, you can block the explicit content for them.
