Spatial Sound Optimization – Smart TV Certification for Best Sound

Spatial Sound Optimization

The sound technologies that make up Smart TVs are getting better and better. Some high-end televisions even support native Dolby Atmos playback, not even needing an additional soundbar to get a proper sound experience. Now, a new certification program is coming to standardize spatial sound in 3D , and Samsung has been the first to receive it.

We are talking about the Spatial Sound Optimization certification, created by the famous German organization VDE (Verband Deutscher Elektrotechniker) . This new program will ensure that a television offers a consistent sound experience no matter what room they are placed in.

Spatial Sound Optimization: TV adapted to your home

A TV sounds different depending on where we place it. For example, sound may bounce more off a wall that has the TV closer to one side than one that is further away. The size, the amount of objects you have placed on it, or even the texture of the walls also influences.

To avoid this difference in sound quality, Samsung Neo QLED Smart TVs have sound profiles that are activated based on the characteristics of the room. This mode, called SpaceFit Sound , measures the dimensions of the room using the microphones built into the television. By emitting a few sounds, the TV will know which is the right setting for your room, adapting the bass, treble and midrange appropriately.

All Samsung Neo QLEDs equip an excellent sound level equipment, where the cheapest Neo QLED QN85A incorporates 2.2.2 sound of 60 W of power, better than the cheapest sound bars on the market. We also find technologies such as Q-Symphony , Object Tracking Sound or Active Voice Amplifier.

Neo QLEDs, the first to obtain certification

Therefore, VDE certification for Spatial Sound Optimization will only be awarded to televisions and audio devices that guarantee a consistent audio experience in any environment. For a sound bar to receive it, it will also have to have sound adaptation mechanisms and microphones to adapt to the environment.

Among the Samsung TV models compatible with this technology we find the Q70A, Q80A, Q85A, QN90A, Q700A, Q800A and Q900A series . Therefore, we not only have certification for the entire Neo QLED range that Samsung has released in 2021, but we also have the Q70A and Q80A, which are “only” QLED.
