If your Xiaomi, Redmi or POCO phone is connected to a Wi-Fi network, it may let you share that connection’s details with a QR code. Whether you can also see the password as text depends on the model and software version. A QR code is useful even when no plaintext password appears.
Check the connected network’s sharing option
- Open Settings > Wi-Fi.
- Select the network you are currently connected to, or its details button.
- Look for Share, a QR symbol or a tap-to-share instruction.
- Confirm your identity if the phone requests a screen lock or biometric check.
- Have the other device scan the code and confirm the correct network name.
The exact labels can differ between MIUI, HyperOS releases and regional versions. If the option is absent, search Settings for Wi-Fi sharing and check the manual for your model. Do not assume a screenshot from another Xiaomi phone shows every available control.
Google’s Android Wi-Fi guide documents QR sharing through the connected network’s settings. Xiaomi can place that function differently. A saved network list also does not guarantee that every old network can be exported.
A router password and a hotspot password are different

For example, Xiaomi’s Xiaomi 14T Pro hotspot instructions use More connectivity options > Portable hotspot > Share QR code. Those steps share the phone’s hotspot; they do not reveal an unrelated router’s password.
If you need the actual text password
Use a displayed password if your version provides one. Otherwise, check your router’s saved configuration or ask its administrator. The label on the router may show an old default password if someone changed it later.

When sharing does not work
Check the network name, whether its password changed and whether the receiving device supports its security settings. Guest networks and business sign-in systems may have different requirements. Use sharing only for networks you own or have permission to share.
