To make this change, the first and most important thing to do is insert the memory card in the removable tray of the phone. Then we have to unlock the smartphone and check if the notifications show an error that tells us to solve the problems, formatting the SD memory. After doing this, the phone will detect it and we can follow the steps to adapt the memory to our liking.

  • We access the mobile Settings and then click on the section About the phone.
  • Here we see a wide square where we can choose Storage.
  • Once inside we have to slide to the point where it says Storage settings.

Here we are going to come across all the options that allow us to choose where to save the photos, themes or gallery . This will put the options with MIUI 12 on a tray, including in the first case the photographs that we take with the mobile camera. As for the themes, it refers to the different customizations that can take up a lot of space on the mobile and finally the gallery refers to WhatsApp images, downloaded images or videos that are shared by different methods.

This will allow us to leave the phone memory reserved for applications and the system, thus achieving higher speed and higher response times. The more space the card has, the more resources we can save and if at some point it fills up completely, everything else we want to save will go to the internal memory of the phone, so try to pay attention to the space occupied by the elements in Settings > About phone> Storage.
