Samsung‘s Galaxy S8 series appeared in our lives in March 2017, since then its useful life was shortened until, at the beginning of May, the company confirmed that it would not have more official updates from the South Korean firm. More than anything, because they only offer two years of official support for the software. However, it has now been discovered that they have a new update.
It is important to remember that this series from Samsung was a milestone in the modern history of the Korean company. Especially for having a completely renewed design, since we could witness how the bezels around the screen were reduced and, above all, the absence of physical buttons on the panel. For this reason, many users continue to hold these models in high esteem.
A surprise update from Samsung
The Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 + were launched on the smartphone market with Android 7.0 Nougat as standard. Later, these two mobile devices received the relevant update to Android 8.0 Oreo in February 2018 and then another, already with the One UI customization layer, which was based on Android 9 Pie at the beginning of 2019.
However, as we said before, the company announced the end of official support for its software just two months ago after four years in the company’s catalog. Although it has not been entirely true, since the Asian firm has now decided to launch a new software complication for these terminals. However, it is not all good news, as it is only available in some regions, such as Bolivia.
This series of the Galaxy marked a turning point in the way of manufacturing smartphones in the South Korean brand. After the launch of the Galaxy Note 7, the company had to show that it could bounce back. And it more than succeeded, since it reached a large volume of sales between these two terminals, since the figure is around 41 million units.
Returning to the important thing, and according to a page dedicated to Samsung, SamMobile, these two mobile devices are now receiving a new update for their software . This comes with version number G950FXXUCDUE1 for the S8 and G955FXXUCDUE1 for the S8 +.
Plus, it brings the May 2021 security patches with it . In this way, many security and privacy problems that some models were suffering are solved. Of course, it is not fully known if Spanish users who have one of these two terminals will get to enjoy this new update.
