Samsung‘s commitment to the high-end has a tough rival, specifically for its Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus version that competes with the iPhone 11 Pro . Both smartphones have features that make them stand out from other models and this time we will analyze section by section to know which one we should buy.
These two smartphones are destined to be compared for a long time as it is the biggest bet to date of two brands that have been competing for several years. Highlighting in this case by Samsung we find its great commitment to cameras and battery increase, while Apple has software that makes it stand out continuously.
Design and Screen
The aesthetics of both models is very different, while in the Samsung Galaxy S20 we have a larger body and a 6.7-inch screen , the iPhone 11 Pro has a smaller body and therefore with a screen that goes down to 5.8 inches . As for the weight is practically identical, 186 grams for the Galaxy S20 Plus that enjoys an AMOLED screen with 525 dpi and the iPhone 11 Pro an OLED screen with 488 dpi for a weight of 188 grams.
On the back, the construction of both centers on the glass and on the front the screen of the Galaxy S20 stands out by eliminating the frames completely and finding only a small central hole for the selfie camera. Meanwhile Apple is still betting on the notch and a screen exploitation that does not convince all users equally
Processor and differential configuration
We start talking about the brain that moves both terminals, first the Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus has the Exynos 990 , a processor that faces the A13 Bionic , the first of these with a clock frequency of 2.73 GHz and the second at 2.5 Ghz, similar numbers but with nuances. In its configuration the differences are still present, when concentrating with 8 or 12 GB of RAM , along with 128, 256 or up to 512 GB of storage in Samsung, meanwhile Apple only believes necessary 4 GB of RAM and a memory that starts from 64 GB and also reaches 512 GB of internal storage. Taking into account that we can expand the memory of the Galaxy S20 with up to 1 TB of memory through microSD.
The commitment to the cameras
Cameras are increasingly important in the world of smartphones and that is why both Apple and Samsung focus much of their efforts on looking at them year after year. On the back of the Samsung Galaxy S20 we have four lenses, the main one of 12 Mpx, in front of the same number and with the same opening in the iPhone 11 Pro, the second lens is the wide angle where they again coincide with 12 Mpx to capture spaces open.
Samsung’s telephoto lens this time is 64 Mpx and that of iPhone stays at 12 Mpx, so by far Samsung will offer more possibilities. Finally, Samsung’s fourth lens is the well-known DepthVision depth sensor that will improve portrait mode and capture more information. The front camera of Samsung is 10 Mpx and Apple’s 12 Mpx, highlighting the wide angle to get better selfies, two very different options.
The video recording offers us an 8K resolution in the case of the Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus, while in the iPhone 11 Pro we have 4K , in both cases with an optical stabilizer and digital stabilizer that improves the recording with its main lenses or the wide angle
Battery and connectivity
If we take a look at its battery we find a large 4,500 mAh battery that will have to support the 6.7 inches of the Galaxy S20 Plus, while the 3,046 mAh may seem short despite the 5.8 inches of the iPhone 11 Pro. Its fast charge offers us in the case of Samsung 25W and by Apple 18W with a charger that we must buy separately.
The connectivity is maximum in both terminals to have wireless charging in both and only reversible in the Galaxy S20 Plus , we also find NFC , Bluetooth 5 LE and no audio jack in both. In the case of the Galaxy S20 Plus we can buy the version with 5G , although this will increase the price.
Android vs. iOS
The eternal willing will be a very important point, especially based on what we have used personally and that makes us feel more comfortable. Both Andorid 10 in the Samusng Galaxy S20 with One UI 2.0, the latest version of the Samsung layer, compared to iOS 13 will allow us to take advantage of our phone, so our personal opinion will be very important to know what we like and more advantages offers us.
Price and final decision
If we take a look at the cheaper version of the Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus with 4G, we are currently in pre-booking cheaper than the iPhone 11 Pro itself. Both terminals are exceeding 100 euros, although with an important difference of 150 euros which will make us opt for the Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus pro to offer us a more complete camera equipment, larger battery and larger storage options for a similar price.
We leave you the data and all its specifications so you can compare both models step by step and draw your own conclusions.
