Going off the road and taking the phone is almost obligatory for many users. It is true that the feeling of leaving the mobile at home and feeling alone for a while can be pleasant, but being localized is a matter of security that we cannot ignore. To help in this task, Huawei mobiles integrate a function that will help us to be located in case of need, thanks to its built-in compass.

The compass is an orientation instrument that uses a magnetic needle to mark the Earth’s magnetic north. The earliest reference to a compass is believed to date from 4th century Chinese literature. Ironically, Huawei has not abandoned this navigation instrument and continues to integrate it into their mobiles as a tool, very useful for adventure lovers.
Methods to activate it
The compass of Huawei mobiles is available inside the “tools” folder on the desktop and is installed as standard. Like other devices, it works through three axes (X, Y and Z,) that react to the Earth’s magnetic field, allowing us to know our current coordinates and altitude.
To activate it we will have two options, the first is to slide your finger down from the center of the main screen to access the search box. Then we write “Compass” and the first result will be the pre-installed Compass application. The second method is as we said before, go to the “Tools” folder where we will find the app.

What can we do
When entering the application, we will be asked to move the mobile as indicated in the drawing in order to calibrate the compass for the first time. In addition, our mobile will advise activating the location to show the latitude and longitude with greater precision. Once activated, if we place the mobile horizontally, the Compass screen will show a quadrant along with the direction the device is pointing, its current coordinates and altitude.
Likewise, if we put the terminal vertically, the compass screen will show the viewfinder of the rear camera , along with the direction the mobile is pointing, its current coordinates and altitude. We can also freeze the current direction by clicking on the compass dial. The quadrant marks will turn blue if we deviate from the position.
Likewise, Huawei details that to achieve a quick location, the camera used by the compass has not been designed to focus manually when the phone is vertical . Since the autofocus function is related to the environment, when the environment is dark, the focus time will be longer.
