In this editorial, we have conducted a thorough analysis of the key enhancements in iOS 17 and the devices that support this version. However, it’s worth noting that Apple has discreetly eliminated certain features that were present in iOS 16.5. In this article, we will delve into the functionalities that Apple has permanently removed from the iPhone.
Features disappearing with iOS 17

First and foremost, it is important to note that the disappeared features mentioned below are primarily observed in the Beta versions of iOS 17, and in some cases, Apple has removed them without providing any justification. Let’s examine these changes in detail:
1. Wallpapers: In iOS 17, Apple has omitted the wallpapers from the previous generations and versions. However, it’s worth mentioning that Macs still retain wallpapers from past generations.
2. Messages interface: Apple has introduced significant modifications to the Messages interface. The two camera icons and A have been replaced with a “+” sign, which grants access to various functions such as adding photos, cameras, tickets, and more. The interface now differs from the previous version, and the icons located above the keyboard have been removed.
3. Weather: The Weather app in iOS 17 now displays the term “my location” and provides detailed information about the weather conditions in your city or on a specific day. Additionally, the term “time” has been changed to “conditions.”
4. QR Code: With iOS 17, when scanning a QR code, the camera no longer tracks the code if it is moved. Apple has removed the tracking function, but it remains uncertain if it will be reintroduced in future updates.

5. Magnifying glass: In previous versions, the magnifying glass function provided various customization options when capturing the screen. However, it appears that this function has been removed in iOS 17. Instead, new features such as Sticker and Signature have been added.
6. iCloud: In iOS 16, the accounts window allowed users to add their default account, serving as their access to iCloud. However, this feature has been removed in iOS 17. It is possible that this option has been temporarily removed for the beta version.
Please note that these changes are based on the information available and may be subject to updates or revisions in subsequent releases of iOS 17.
Usability changes
In addition to the removal of certain features, as mentioned earlier, there have also been changes in the reorganization of certain features from iOS 16 to iOS 17. While these changes are not outright removals, it is helpful to be aware of their new locations.
1. New Icons: Apple has made adjustments to several icons, either by removing them or modifying their appearance. For example, the VPN icon has undergone a complete redesign. Additionally, in the profile section, new icons have been introduced for various Apple ID options, such as subscriptions, payments and shipping, login and security, and personal information. These icons are currently presented in a grey wireframe version, and it is uncertain whether they will be colored in future updates.
2. Contacts: In iOS 17, there has been a change in the behavior of the user profile icon when swiping down on a contact. In the previous generation, the user profile icon remained visible, but in iOS 17, it has been removed. This alteration may be seen as a potential oversight, as it is important to have clear visibility of the contact we are interacting with.

3. Safari: Several changes have been made to the privacy and security section of Safari. Specifically, the “Rogue website warning,” “privacy-protecting ad analytics,” and “checking Apple Pay” functions have been relocated to the advanced options within the Safari browser.
4. Shortcuts: Apple has also made modifications to the Shortcuts app. With the introduction of iOS 17, users will encounter a new Shortcuts interface. In the automation creation option, there will be a revamped interface and a reorganization of automations.
It is essential to note that these changes reflect the current information available, and further updates or revisions may occur as iOS 17 continues to evolve.
