How to Recover the Contacts of a Mobile That Does Not Turn on

There are many problems that we can face with our smartphone on a day-to-day basis. As we frequently see on our site, in the vast majority of cases, these bugs can be easily fixed as they are related to the software. However, the margin is greatly reduced when we find a mobile that does not turn on, but from which we urgently need to recover the contacts.

As we say, the options are greatly reduced when the problem is that the mobile does not turn on. If the problem is a hardware failure that affects the board or the battery, there is little we can do until these elements are repaired. However, if it is about recovering the contacts, some of these solutions that we have not fallen into may give us results.

Methods to recover contacts

Change the phone SIM

It is the fastest method and possibly saves us if we need quick access to contacts. Many of the new contacts may have remained in the cloud, but if our SIM has some time, possibly there are also stored contacts that we can easily recover. To clear up any doubts, we will only have to remove the SIM from the phone that does not turn on and try it in another that we have at hand.

Once done, we must make sure that the contacts are displayed correctly on the new mobile. To do this, we go to the Settings of the Contacts application and click on “Import” and choose “SIM” to retrieve those contacts stored on the card.

Check the timing

If on the phone that does not turn on, we had the synchronization of the contacts activated, it is easy that they have been automatically saved in the Google cloud. This is a wonderful way to give contacts to Google, but also to get them back in case of problems like the one at hand. To clear up any doubts, we can do it once more from a different terminal, by logging in with the Google account and clicking on “Synchronize” from the accounts section. If all goes well, we can see all of our contacts. Similarly, it is something that we can do from the computer, entering the “Contacts” section of our Google account from the PC.

Can they be on the microSD?

The microSD card is a perfect life saver for contacts. Many users usually use it as a backup, since the contact files do not usually take up much and in this way we have an alternative way to recover them. If at some point, you’ve exported the contacts to the memory card they should still be there.

The procedure is similar to the one we have seen with the SIM card, that is, we must remove it from the terminal and insert it into the alternative mobile. Then just go to Contacts and click on Import from SIM card to retrieve them.

Recovery app

This option will not work for all users, as it requires a few factors. There are applications specially designed to recover this type of data , such as contacts, messages or photos deleted from the device. Some popular ones like UltData , recover the contacts. However, it will only work if before the problem, we had the USB debugging option enabled.

If so, the system may work. The first thing we have to do is download the tool on the PC. Then we will have to connect the mobile to the PC using the USB cable and wait for its detection. Finally, we will select the option to recover the contacts and wait for the search analysis to finish. If we have been lucky and the tool has been able to recover the contacts, we will be offered some options to put them safely, such as exporting to a file that we can save on the computer.
