The Chinese firm Realme has become one of the most prominent in the mid-range and entry-level, thanks to a ratio of benefits and price well above many of its competitors. And also its personalization layer helps a positive perception of these mobiles. Thanks to functions so useful to run apps like the one we bring you today.
Running apps is something very daily, in fact it is what we do most of the day with our mobile phone, otherwise we could not get much use out of it. And there is a possibility to make this task much simpler, thanks to the gestures that we can perform on the phone screen even when it is off.
A different and practical way to run apps
We do not want to propose that the apps that we run on the phone are always made this way, but we do at least can configure everything for when necessary, we can run them this way. We use the telephone in the most diverse situations, and sometimes this use can be conditioned by the environment or the things we are doing with it. Just as it is possible to activate the flashlight in many mobiles with gestures or by pressing certain buttons with the screen off, because we may have the other hand occupied.
And even both, we can also do the same with the execution of apps, at least thanks to the options that Realme UI 2.0 offers us, the new version of the brand’s customization layer that is now based on Android 11. And that now it also offers us more options to take advantage of gestures when the screen is off. Among all these gestures we can customize one to run applications on our Realme phone, and thus do it in the least conducive situations to be opening apps.
How is this function activated?
Realme UI 2.0 has many features that allow us to tailor our phone experience to the extreme. And this means that in addition to the functionalities that allow us to make stock Android, the Chinese firm adds other features that make using the phone more comfortable and above all practical.
For this, there is a section in the settings of your phones that allow us to access additional tools that we usually find on Android. In this case, within the gestures section we have a whole catalog of options that allows us to add new functions to the usual use of the phone. In this case we must access:
- Enter the Realme UI settings
- Click on “Practical tools”
- Select “Gestures and movements”
Once inside this section we will find a large number of options that we can carry out through gestures, and without having to press buttons, even the navigation buttons. Within this menu we find a section called ” Gestures with the screen off ” which is obviously the place where we will be able to configure this useful functionality.
Well, within this section we have the option that we want to use to be able to run the apps with the phone screen off. The first thing to do is activate the ” Gestures with the screen off ” by pressing the slider that we have at the top of this menu. Once this function is activated we will be able to configure it to give it a personal touch.
How is it configured?
Within this section we have different utilities that we can carry out when the phone screen is off. And among all of them there is the possibility of adding gestures and personalizing them with different actions.
In this case, what we want is that with a gesture we can open any app on our phone. For this we must do the following:
- Select “Add gesture”
- Choose one of the available gestures
Within this section we have up to six different gestures that we can draw on the screen when it is off, completely in black. These gestures can be to slide the finger up, to do it down, to the left, to the right, or we can also draw a letter “M” or a letter “W”. Once we choose the gesture we can select the action that will be carried out when we draw it on the screen.
When we have selected the gesture we must select ” Run an application ” to go on to select which of the apps installed on our phone is going to open automatically when drawing it. Within the list of apps we find all the ones we have installed on the phone, so we just have to select the one we want to run in this way. Once done, we can try to make the gesture with the screen turned off, when we do it we will see how our finger leaves a trail, in fluorine color, which will serve as a guide to complete the gesture that we have chosen on the screen.
Another utility with the screen off
Another alternative to this function of running apps with the screen is to be able to do the same with calls to emergency services. These functions are there so you never have to use them, or at least as few times as possible. And in the case of Realme mobiles we have the possibility of making emergency calls regardless of the state of the phone.
Whether with the screen off , on, locked or unlocked. The important thing in this case is that we do not need to dial 112. But with five consecutive presses of the power button we will be able to make an emergency call. Something that can be done in the following way:
- Access the settings
- Click on “Security”
- Select “SOS emergency”
- Click on “Emergency call”
Now in this section what we must do is click on the slider ” Quick access to emergency calls ” and press the slider next to this button. In this way we can also even make the call earlier than if we had configured the phone app with a screen off gesture and we had dialed the emergency number.
