Realme 6s: Review and Opinion of Cheap Phone

Realme continues to expand its catalog and recently unveiled the realme 6s. A phone that comes prepared to compete in one of the most complex price ranges, the entry range, and where the same manufacturer has other models such as the actual 6 itself that we have already tested. I have been testing it for a few weeks and today I show you the main keys you need to know so that you know it thoroughly .

The keys to the new realme 6s

This is one of the new members of the realme 6 family. A range that, as we have already mentioned on other occasions, promises to become the company’s new best seller.

Realme 6s: Review and Opinion of Cheap Phone

If you have already taken a look at the rest of the family smartphones, you will have noticed that, in the design section, they are practically identical. On the front we find a 6.5 ″ panel with a hole in the screen , which hides its only front camera.

We are facing a screen with FullHD + resolution that, although it does not have a higher resolution such as 2K or 4K, it looks good and with a correct color representation. And this is thanks to OSIE technology, which improves the colors, contrast and clarity of the images that are reproduced on this panel.

Moving on to another aspect of the design, the realme 6s integrates the fingerprint reader in the unlock button like the rest of the new realme 6 range does. A reader with which, after these weeks of using it, I have had zero problems and unlocking It is done quickly. As with facial recognition . It is not the safest but it works well in almost all situations.

The main difference that we will see between this phone and the rest of its brothers is in the back, where each one has a different finish. In this case, the realme 6s may be the “simplest” of the whole family, since it does not have any differential details such as the “S” of the 6 PRO or the downgrade of the realme 6 “just plain”.

What if this model inherits are the two negative aspects that the rest also has: the hump of its camera module, which makes the phone move when resting on any surface, and the glossy finish is a magnet for footprints. Although both problems can be solved by placing a cover like the one included in your box when you buy it.

5 cameras for the realme 6s

Moving on to the camera section, this phone still looks a lot like the rest of the family but with a little difference. The realme 6s has no less than 5 cameras in its body:

  • A 48 mp primary and f / 1.8 (26 mm) focal lens, unlike the 64 mp of the realme 6 or 6 PRO.
  • An 8 mp wide angle , f / 2.3 focal length and 119º (15.7 mm) aperture.
  • A macro of 2 mp and focal f / 2.4, to bring them up to 4 centimeters from what we want to photograph.
  • A 2 mp portrait enhancement lens , which is a sensor that takes black and white shots.
  • A single front camera of 16 mp and focal f / 2 (26 mm), to take selfies .

How are your results? Well, as you can imagine looking at the specifications, very similar to the other smartphones in this family.

When the light conditions are good, the result of all the lenses is correct, although sometimes I notice that it goes a bit with the processing. The macro may be the one that does not manage to leave us high-quality photographs, but it does its job.

Where we will notice the difference in this realme 6s and the rest is when the light falls. Having a camera with fewer megapixels directly affects the pixel binning technology and is therefore not able to capture as much light. It is not dramatic in comparison but it gets to be noticed. Although, to solve this section a bit, you can use the night mode to improve the results.

Realme 6s hardware

How is the experience using this phone? After these weeks testing it I can say that, on a day to day basis, everything works very well. Inside we have the same Mediatek MT6785 as in realme 6, along with 4 GB of RAM . Whether we ask you to perform at full power or use it for simpler tasks, the realme 6s performs well, lag-free and with a constant fluid feel.

This sensation is produced, in addition to its components by the processor and RAM, thanks to the fact that the screen has a refresh rate of 90Hz . Something that many manufacturers are already including in their smartphones and that makes it difficult to get used to when we try to return to a “normal” screen.

This new member of the realme catalog has a 4,300 mAh battery together with a 30W fast charge . A charging system that allows us to “fill” your battery from 0% to 100% in approximately 1 hour. It is not perhaps the fastest charge on the market but, for my use, it seems to me to be at an excellent level.

On the other hand, something that differentiates it from its older brothers is that it does not include the NFC chip . Is this a drama? No, but forget about using contactless payment systems or pair with other teams using that chip.

Realme UI: a cape for lovers of personalization

This realme 6s follows the line of the rest of smartphones in its catalog in the software section. We find the manufacturer’s customization layer, realme UI , which runs on Android 10 . Little can I tell you about the software on this phone that I haven’t already told you about.

The experience is very good, without lags or slowdown problems. If you are one of those who enjoy customizing and adapting the system to your liking, this is your layer, since it includes a good set of settings, menus and options. But, if you are looking for the pure Android aspect, you are not before the best option.

Realme 6s price and availability

Now that you know the keys to this smartphone, it’s time to talk about the key detail that will make you, or not, opt for this model, the price . The realme 6s is available in a single model with 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage for a price of € 199 . I liked the phone a lot and it works very well. Considering the price it has, it is a great option to consider.

At this point, you may be wondering which one to buy, the realme 6s or the realme 6? In my opinion, knowing that the difference between the two is € 20, that with Realme 6 you get a slightly better camera and the NFC chip, I would opt for 6 “just plain”. Although, if you want to save those € 20 and those small improvements are irrelevant to you, you can choose this model and invest the difference in other things.
