Of course, achieving something like this seemed only possible in science fiction films and that the closest we would be to that idea would be the current methods of text recognition or speech to text that do allow words to be dictated and that they appear on the screen.
However, the dream of many has come true. Thanks to the work of a group of researchers who implanted a pair of chips implanted in the brain of a user with the limbs and other parts of his body completely immobilized, he was able to communicate by text. But best of all, the writing speed was very on par with what a user without mobility problems is capable of now writing with a smartphone (90 characters per minute).
Those responsible for this technological achievement belong to a team of neurosurgeons from Stanford University in California. Jaimie Henderson and Krishna Shenoy implanted two chips in the brain of this user and thanks to the use of artificial intelligence they have allowed him to write and all he had to do was imagine that he was writing.
In other words, this user only had to imagine what the outline of each letter would be like by hand and an AI was in charge of shaping it and predicting what the word they wanted to write would be. Thus he was joining word by word to form the phrase with which he managed to communicate what he wanted.
