Products to Avoid to Disinfect Your Mobile

After more than a year of a global pandemic, awareness of personal and object disinfection seems to have taken hold. However, there are still many doubts about the importance of disinfecting our smartphone or how and with what to do it correctly.

The mobile is in constant physical contact with us. We touch it, put it in our pocket and put it on many surfaces. It is also in close contact with our mouth when we make a call. For this reason, it has been one of the elements that have been most recommended to disinfect during the pandemic.

However, our mobile is not prepared to receive any type of cleaning or disinfection product. The resistance of our mobile may be present to liquids such as water, but in other circumstances, we could seriously damage them if we do not proceed correctly. Different studies have always agreed that the surface of the mobile can contain a large number of batteries, in addition to the fact that microorganisms such as Covid19 can remain on this type of surface for longer than initially thought.

Disinfectant products for the mobile

As our devices are not available for disinfection with products such as gels or sprays that we use for our hands, there are other methods that we must follow. The answer as to whether they work is yes, but the problem is the possible consequences. It is almost more important to be clear about what we should not use to carry out the disinfection of our terminal.

  • 100% alcohol without reducing or diluting.
  • Bleach.
  • Ammonia.
  • Glass cleaner.
  • Hand sanitizer gel.
  • Bathroom or kitchen cleaner.
  • Cleansing wipes.
  • Makeup remover.
  • Paper towels.

So what do I clean it with?

If our mobile is protected against water through some type of IP certification, a dip under the tap could be a good option. You can also add half a drop of hand soap and clean it as if it were a bar of soap. The essential thing is to completely dry the mobile after doing so, with a lint-free cloth

If your mobile does not have an IP certificate that immunizes it against water, it can be cleaned with disinfectant wipes. You can also create a mixture with 60% water and 40% alcohol. Ideally, turn off the device before cleaning it and rub all parts of the mobile well. The use of this percentage of alcohol is important , since some terminals have an anti-fingerprint film that could be damaged by using a higher percentage. The solution in this case, can be to use a micro-fiber cloth (to clean the glasses) slightly moistened with water and rub all over the device so that the moisture absorbs the dirt.
