The Pixel 6 Will Have Its Own Processor Signed by Google

We are all aware that there is currently an alarming shortage of semiconductors and chipsets that is affecting not only the mobile phone industry, but also the automobile industry and all those markets that need to use processors to bring their products to life. This could be one of the reasons why Google is working on its own processor.

The Pixel 6 has already appeared on the Internet on more than one occasion as the mobile has leaked a couple of times advancing some of its characteristics, many of them inherited from a Pixel 5a, such as the location of the selfie camera in the center of the front screen or the general design of the mobile. As usual, before the official announcement of the Pixel 5a, which will take place sometime in May, the rumor mill is already beginning to move around a Pixel 6 that should see the light next October.

New “in-house” processor for the Pixel 6

All Google phones released to this day have housed a Qualcomm processor inside. However, the new information that we find today says that the Pixel 6 does not use a Snapdragon mobile processor, but a Whitechapel chip also known as “GS101” that could be developed exclusively for the phone.

Google is thought to be working on its own chipset as the “Whitechapel” project is one of Google’s many steps in creating its own SoC that can be used in future Chromebooks and Pixel phones . Its characteristics are still unknown but it seems clear that it could be a possible rival for Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processors.

There is still no confirmation or official announcement, but one of the great news for lovers of Google mobiles is the firm would be working with Samsung on this project. The “Whitechapel” could be co-developed by the two so it would have a lot of Exynos , processors that have already demonstrated their more than enough power at the top of the range of the Galaxy series.

It is likely that even the Pixel 5a that we mentioned before will be encouraged to reach the market with a processor from this new project, but if we had to put our hands on fire we would do it for the Pixel 6, a phone that should be a great change of course for the internet giant.
